So basically I need to avoid the internet/facebook for the next 1.5 years to avoid seeing any major spoilers about VIII.
I don't want to read that article even though there is a very good chance it's made up. It's from reddit, thats what those trolls do over there, but even if I avoid reading it, the shit will be spoiled at some point anyway. I found out about Han a week before the movie came out. Really was not trying to hear that but people are bored assholes on the internet.
- yeah, I don't buy Finn hooking up with that nasty Asian chick, bleh!drake-von-drake
- A similar Reddit leak prior to EPVII was 95% spot on.fadein11

- Well, *supposed* spoilers. Who knows if this is the real deal or not.Continuity

Saw this on the plane the other day. Meh.
- to be fair, you watched it on a planemonospaced
- Immersion? What's that?DRIFTMONKEY
- You may as well have watched it on a Gameboy screen. The original monochrome one.face_melter
- Yeah most plane screens are low gamut, bad gamma monstrosities.evilpeacock
- also probably only getting about half of the audio that waymonospaced
- it's not for everybodydocpoz
- ^ NOOO! Everyone must love this movie!!!desmo

- As if a better screen would have made the writing and directing better. Lucifer our lord.i_monk
- ^ Believe me i_monk. It is actually impossible to watch a film on a plane and then say it was good. IMPOSSIBLE!HAYZ1LLLA

Confession: I bought the blu-ray, which is weird, because I didn't even own a single disc until now.
- Maybe I just want to see the THX decoding light on my receiver? I dunno.monospaced
- You never bought a bluray before this? I own 100s.CygnusZero4
- No, I'm not one to own movies at all, actually. I'm not a big rewatcher, but I do have a very small handful of digital copies I do keep. Maybe 12 total.monospaced
- The only reason I even have a blu-ray player is because I wanted to rent movies and have real 1080 picture. Used it maybe 5 times in the last 3 years.monospaced
- CygnusZero4-2
I watched it like 3x since the bluray rip leaked. Its very good. Obviously entertaining. Idk how anyone could possibly say its not at least entertaining.
It leans so much on the original one though. I hope they do something more with 8 and 9, not just follow the same old story beats. I get why they did it with this, because they were relaunching star wars and there was a lot riding on it so they went with what they knew would work, and it did work so now they can get a little nutty with the other 2.
- hopefully with some gungans...prophetone
- Entertaining yes...but more regurgitation than anything else. I hope that the next episode dives deeper into the dark side, is less campy and cliché.utopian
- it's awesome. it's about time you started appreciating itdocpoz
- of course they'll do more with 8 and 9; haven't you said this same general thing before a few times?monospaced
- the new characters are great - thats what mattered most for this one imo. Not an easy task either.inteliboy
- i never said the movie was terrible lmao. its not spice world. its just not perfect. not enough sith stuff (or any at all actually).CygnusZero4
- the character stuff i was never worried about. that aspect of the new star trek movies was great, jj is good at that.CygnusZero4
- In all honesty, I think the regurgitation was absolutely necessary to get fans back in. The prequels were so fucking dreadful, the fans needed a shot of ...Continuity
- ... the SW they know and love to get them back into the fold for the new sequels. It was just the nostalgic romp needed to set the stage for the next two.Continuity
- Indeed. The prequels are utter cinematic mince, never mind as SW films. Eps. VII is comfy as fuck with an excellent set of main characters.face_melter
- Agreed. Good reboot and homage, great fx and fighting improvements, now let's move on.monospaced

This is the best Star Wars movie ever.
- :)monospaced
- Y'know, after watching the original trilogy and then this, it's pretty close to being the best. It does the things my 10yo old self wanted a SW film to do.face_melter
- In that, it's how my imagination ran riot - how the Falcon flew, how the fights were, how the bad guys chopped stuff up. I genuinely love this film now.face_melter
- same here, I watched the originals right before this, and it is perfectly in-line with look, style, dialogue, etc.monospaced
- while the plot was a little more than expected, they improved many shortcomings, especially in action scenes.monospaced
- CygnusZero4-5
I dont mind attack of the clones or revenge of the sith. some good stuff in them. phantom obviously is painfully boring outside of the pod race which was cool.
force awakens is better in that they focused more on characters and good acting, something george isnt the best at, but i felt its not as good with all the star wars-y shit. it feels more like those star trek movies than star wars to me, and i like force awakens a lot, but it doesnt have any of the cool exotic planets or ships or any of that stuff. just a really stripped down take of star wars.
- no sith in it. no darth. no jedi. not much actual star wars in it. weird.CygnusZero4
- Don't you have a doll to be playing with?detritus
- thats not relevant.CygnusZero4
- Watch attack of the clones tonight. Then come back... and say: Oh yea man, you're right.
Its bad. Fuckin bad. So much that I can't list it all.sofakingback - I watched clones about a month ago. Still like it outside of all the scenes with Anakin and Padme.CygnusZero4
- Everything else I liked.CygnusZero4
- autoflavour-1
- oups.. doubleautoflavour
- lol. knew it wouldn't be long until she get's sexualised as fuck. her management should just get $ signs tattooed on their pupils.inteliboy
- it may just be me, but i found her pretty sexualised in force awakens..autoflavour
- maybe not heroin chic pornstyle like here. but there was definite interest in my trousers..autoflavour
- needs moar boobsCygnusZero4
- that's because of you, auto, not because of her outfit or the script, if anything they tried not to sexualize her much at allmonospaced
- yep, i was just trying to relive my
exposure to Slave Leia..autoflavour - slave leia was blatantly sexualized though :)monospaced
- There was zero sexualization of her in TFA. Baggy clothes, bad, messy hair. No makeup.ETM
- Exactly, ETMmonospaced
- i don't think they could have sexualized leia in TFA if they triedscarabin
- Heroin chic style was never sexy.sted
- A big difference between being sexy and being sexualized.ETM
- But if people want to see, she was a topless corpse in the British show 'Silent Witness.'ETM
- I find her incredibly beautiful and talented. But not sexy.HAYZ1LLLA
- she is very cute. i cant call her sexy. she has the body of a 12 year old boy. no. curves. anywhere.CygnusZero4
- WHORE PORN®utopian
- Oh shut up, cygnus - your idea of a woman's based on fantasy video game stereotypes drawn by virgin menboys who can't look women in the eye.detritus
- lol such strong words. cygnus is right though, she has the body of a child not a womanterry_cloth

Btw after watching it again last night, knowing how much in this movie echoes the original trilogy, Im pretty certain Maz Kanata is either a part of Yodas race, or directly related to him.
Like Im pretty sure in episode 8 she is going to take that hat off and her big floppy yodas ears are going to pop out, and shes going to get in a lightsaber fight with some sith guy.
JJ said she may have crossed paths with Yoda at some point and left it at that, and he is the one character that wasnt really addressed in this movie, so Im pretty sure she is there to fill that role of the wise old sage or whatever, and will be the Yoda of this series in the next 2.
- Not to mention the fact that she is really the only one that talked about the sith or the empire. Hmmmm.... whats under the hat Maz??CygnusZero4
- This could be fulfilling aside from the part about her being whatever species yoda may be.dorkKn1ght
- i thought you didnt like this movie?inteliboy
- I think she is a (good) Yoda analogue - a touchstone people familiar with the older films can relate to. The wise, wrinkly, old sage Who Had Seen Some Shit.face_melter
- No. Luke Skywalker is the Yoda of this series.docpoz
- Maybe in narrative terms - unlikely apprentice seeks out recluse to learn, but Maz is the oddball midget comfort blanket.face_melter
- that's because you are a racist loldocpoz
- you really didnt get that the first time you saw it?CALLES

The Imperial March rearranged in a major key makes it sound like a soundtrack for spring:
