    • When in a New Hope did "An exalted master of the dark side of the force administrates via a hologram." ? Just curious.ETM
    • Also when in Empire did this happen?
The Father-Son relationship experiences a sudden turn, after you think they might be nice to each other.
      ETM
    • Lets be honest... many of these, at their core themes, are the crutch of every story.ETM
    • ^ oh ffs - everyones got mass hysteria... Force Awakens is a near remake of A New Hope with some other bits thrown in. It's fact for all to see. I knew he wouldfadein11
    • play it safe but how safe he did play it sucks balls. Just caught last half hour of Revenge of the Sith accidentally on TV - it's has a better feel, cannotfadein11
    • believe I am saying it. But Force Awakens also feels small and Earth-bound. Nothing out of this world happens.fadein11
    • I was kinda surprised when a rather famous character died, maybe just me, but I didn't see that coming and was amazed it wasn't leakedformed
    • regarding my posts 3 above - by feel I mean it feels more like Star Wars. The last half hour is actually rather good apart from newly helmetted Vader's outburstfadein11
    • You mean that 30 minute saber fight over lava video game sequence? The ridiculous fact that Obi-Wan neither helps nor kills Anakin, but simply...ETM
    • leaves him in agony. Because doing one or the other logical thing doesn't allow the character simply to survive and fit the existing narrative.ETM
    • lol, yea that noooooo was some baywatch corny shit wasn't it. the prequels were visually far more interestingburd-turglar
    • Or Yoda running like a bitch and becoming useless for no good reason other than to again simply fit into existing narrative?ETM
    • On this sir, we must agree to disagree.ETM
    • it was a cobbled together mess as wellburd-turglar
    • it feels bigger, like an epic. Original trilogy also felt big with no CGI. Some of the sets/planets in epVII feel v.small and all v.earthlike. Not sci-fi enoughfadein11
    • hard to explain - it often felt like obvious sets. Look at his Star Trek reboot - doesn;t feel like that at all - good balance between CGI and real.fadein11
    • lol at bloggers ranting about it being the same as A New Hope like they are the smartest critic on the planet. It was on fucking purpose retards.inteliboy
    • I can't help but think that it's all for the benefit of videogames and merchandise. Mustafar, mygeeto, kamino, falooga etc, were cool as fuck, the new moviesburd-turglar
    • Didn't have squat in the way of cool new planetary scenes for the upcoming games. The coolest new shit was the new species introduced in the mos eisley rehashburd-turglar
  • fadein11-2

I am still astounded that my friends and I are in such a minority who were so disappointed... Seeing again tomorrow night with my daughter so hopefully will enjoy it more on the 2nd run.

My gripes were not a case of needing to let go and just enjoy it for what it was, they were due to some major flaws in a film that could have been so much better.

Plot - so so weak and rehash of previous film - 3rd Death Star - please!?
Scottish space pirate - wtf? that whole scene is just terrible
Pacing - film needed at least an extra half hour to add suspense and necessary set-up for new trilogy.
    Kylo Ren - Darth Emo.
    Another desert planet?
    Snoke - WTF?
Han Solo SPOILER ALERT - THE scene - lame. One of my favourite cinematic characters of all time and didn't feel a slightest bit of emotion that he died at the hands of his emo son. Not enough background on Han / Leia / Kylo to care a jot.
Chewie got over it v.quickly lol.

That aside it also had some great moments.

    Just a v.flawed film.

    • I totally agree. Watched A New Hope on Saturday and seriously there was so much more imagination, creativity and emotion! The Han Solo bit was just 'oh well'Ianbolton
    • It was a funny, action-based sci-fi romp but why didn't I give a shit about hardly any of the characters?Ianbolton
    • Still think it's more JJ Abrams style more than anything. Big, brash and bold but lacking any substance.Ianbolton
    • I agree fadeinset
    • These criticisms are valid, though still loved it. There's SO much to like in this film. SO much was done really really well.inteliboy
    • ^ yep there was but I always struggle to like a film a lot if basics like plot, character and pacing are not in order.fadein11
    • agree on every point, but im still looking forward to the next one.CygnusZero4
    • Agreed on all counts. I hate when a movie with genre masterpiece/mileston... potential falls apart in ways that could've been easily avoided.raf
    • forget about all that shit, how did you feel though? emotionally... we can nit pick it to death, your points are all valid but did you feel better about this..._niko
    • ...than the last 3? tell me you weren't teary eyed in a few scenes._niko
    • Niko bro, was that you crying at Fenway theater last nightburd-turglar
  • set2

    Utterly meh

    • You're being dramatic, but yes, it could have been better so easily, it's sad.raf
    • didnt seem too dramatic. the movie was just kinda meh. not awful, not very good either. it could have been a LOT better.CygnusZero4
    • Not dramatic at all. Meh meh meh mehset

    • i meant 8:28spl33nidoru
    • expected to want to turn him off right away but nope - interesting.fadein11
    • I love his comparison between "joy" and "pleasure" well stated!utopian

Guess I wasn't clear... I was thinking maybe Kylo is Luke or Leia's CHILD... ... not Luke or Leia (as folks have been speculating about for the last couple months). Basically Luke will have to deal with the reverse tragedy of his child being an asshole? The darkside skips a generation?

    • My guess > Kylo & Rey are Han and Leia's children / brother and sister.zombee
    • Kylo Ren is actually Mace Windu's cousinprophetone
    • actually... he's Qui-Gon Jinn's 2nd cousin twice removed on his Mother's side... pretty sure of itPonyBoy
    • Maybe Kylo is his father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate...kona
    • ^haha...
      WE AIN'T FOUND SHIT!!

  • CALLES1

    they need better blaster laws

    • The only thing that can stop a bad guy with a blaster is a good guy with a blaster. Or one with magic and a laser swordlocustsloth
    • Or sometimes a couple of bumbling robots. Or even a reverse mer-man, on accident.locustsloth
    • DO YOU WANT TO OUTLAW ALL THOSE THINGS TOO?!?!?!locustsloth
    • Because if so, i'd be ok with that last one being outlawed. Just sayin'locustsloth
    • when you outlaw blasters only outlaws will have blasters_niko
    • pretty sure the force can handle a few blastersmonospaced
    • blasters don't kill stormtroopers, rebels kill stormtroopersdocpoz
    • Stormtroopers don't kill Rebels... because they can't hit shit.ETM
  • ernexbcn4

  • docpoz1

I hope it's better than Star Trek 2.

    • and SW episode 2fadein11
    • Loved Star Trek 2. In the mood to see it again now. Thanks.CygnusZero4
    • star trek 2 was terrible.inteliboy
    • All of your opinions are shit. All of them.set
    • It was a bit of a let down, but hardly shit.ETM
    • nope it wasn't shit at allfadein11

    • this is the droid i was looking for?autoflavour
    • gap even with armour. extra points.Gnash
  • Ben992

Dunno why, but i kinda feel a little uncomfort with the old ones, Leia, Solo and Luke... Like I was seeing the actors more than their played characters... I found their play to be kinda fake. I dunno.

    • sameApeRobot
    • too much time has passed for them to feel like characters they played 30 years ago. they look and sound too differentCygnusZero4
    • Leia especially. Oompa Loompa body with a smoker's voice.ETM
    • You know she was wearing spanx up to her eyeballs and that's they best they could do.ETM

It bugged me throughout the whole movie that I couldn't remember where this guy was from. I couldn't stop thinking about it.

I really enjoyed his acting in LOST:

    • Rush hour.pango
    • X men: last stand.pango
    • only know him from lost. great characterhotroddy
    • The woman who treats Chewbacca's wounds, at the Resistance base, is a regarded Shakespearean actress.face_melter
    • harriet walter - i nearly fell off my chair when she appeared.hans_glib
    • Indeed. A genuine and pleasant surprise. Celia Imrie was a pilot in the Eps. 1 I think - she got told off for wearing lipstick :Dface_melter
    • who is he in force awakens? the kanjiklub guy?CygnusZero4
