I just did something incredibly stupid.
I have a very cheap china-made swappable head driver set - completely worthless piece of shit: The metal hexagonal bit detached from the plastic handle long ago, making it utterly useless. I'm fixing things around the house, so had the superglue out to fix a mug and a pan handle - thought I'd fix the driver whilst at it.
Put superglue in plastic handle, inserted the metal hexagonal bit, then - and stop me if you know what happens next - decided to hit it into place with a hammer.
As I was swinging hammer, my subconscious had a passing moment of alarmed self-ciriticism and sure enough as the hammer made contact, I saw this spatter of superglue emanate from the handle, with a droplet heading straight towards my eye.
There's not much less worrying to ask your partner from the garden "Dear, do me a favour - look up what I should do if I get superglue in my eye?"
15 minutes later and it's all gone, along with a few eyelashes.

She somehow convinced my wife to go on a little vacation with her. some people have cars they only drive once a year and spend 364 days polishing and tuning. Other people get tattoos, others collect baseball cards, sneakers..
I would argue if people like collecting hardware and tinkering away at, what's the problem?
I have zero interest in being a musician for a living, or even really putting that much music out.. I do it because its a nice escape for me.. its a thing I have been doing for 25+ years and I enjoy making all the machines talk to each other.
I assume this post wasn't about me, maybe it was, I will be ignorant on that .. but given I was instantly tagged in the comments I figured I would weigh in.
I guess I would argue that at least, compared to other things people collect, I can at least creatively express my ideas using them. I like sneakers, but wearing a pair of shoes doesn't give me the same expression as making a song..
as for modular synths.. its the nerd level of an already nerdy past time.. its the I have too much disposable income and didn't buy a sportscar for my middle aged crisis
