What's with social media posts like this? Are they spammers or are people really that bored and lonely that they want strangers to follow them?

In my 12 years of experience, I've never worked in a office with another black person, I always felt that no matter how good or bad I was, they hired me like some kind of token,

but the agency where I work right now, just hired a new black intern, which makes 4 of us, wooooohoooo

I'm so proud of this new generation who are breaking the barriers into the design world without AA :)

    • In my 12 years of experience I've never worked in a office with a black person. I feel you.ORAZAL
    • My current office had a black man working here when I came for an interview, which had me a bit worried. He was gone by the time I got the job though, thank godset
    • This is due to the German guilty conscience, nothing to do with "your achievements"...OBBTKN
    • One of the bosses here is a black guy. He's also gay and from Jamaica. Makes like 1/2 million. Lots of black people working here.monospaced
    • obbtkn you're funny, but yeah thank god for guilt, or no minority will never get a job

    • You've expressed this before, Georges and I recall it had partly to do with the design culture in... Italy? I forget where you currently work/live.monospaced
    • @mono - you work for a global accountancy (aka tax avoidance) firm - diversity and CSR etc. is part of the ethosfadein11
    • not sure those environments are any different though. Small design businesses recruit based on portfolios not race I imagine. I blame the education system.fadein11
    • @canon: lol, maybe, I'll make sure to still as many ballpoint pen as I can
@mono, yeah, I did, I always felt odd, makes me feel less like a token

Has anyone ever gotten high with an older person and they began having episodes of schizophrenia/alzhemiers?

I felt scared for this person and I even began to wonder if they could get violent and try to kill me as we watched a film.

Alas, it was a peaceful end to the night as this person fell asleep in peace. But I wish there were something I could do to help.

PS. I will not be smoking with that person again.

    • "Alas, it was a peaceful end to the night as this person fell asleep in peace."
You wanted it to end in murder?

I don't understand how it can be so hard for companies like Yahoo to make a comparable search engine like Google. They should get rid of all the junk on their homepage and just break it down simply as Google has it. Using Yahoo is so clunky. I try to rely on it, but the idiocy of its designer fails to understand simple basic needs to search for stuff in efficient means.

    • Business objectives.studderine
    • one of their objectives has to create a well designed, easy-to-use search engine.omg

I have to present the next campaign to the all 150 employees (including CEO, COO, MDs etc) next week. I'm not a shy person, but when it comes to this level of presentation I start to feel a little overwhelmed and tongue tied.
What tips and tricks (apart from imagining that they'll all naked – not a bad option as 80% staff are female) do you guys use to overcome the pre-presentation butterflies?

Fuckin philanthropy. Just read some saudi prince wants to donate his fortune like gates foundation... What a load of shit. All it is is crony capitalism hiding behind rules and regulations for non profits statuses and a front for buying influences wether business or political. It's a fuckin business operating as some bullshit virtue. Don't people realize when said companies(charities) still seem to double or triple wealth while really doing nothing but a few feel good PR articles a year. Man i fuckin hate non-profits. Maybe I do too much work with them but they're the worst kinds of fucktards that have nothing to do with charity or non-profit. It's all ego inflating jerk off shit with the intent of making easy money and throwing parties to celebrate your goodwill at improving nothing but bank accounts.

    • Holly shit, I'm agreeing with death boy,GeorgesII
    • sadly I worked at a NFP once and couldn't agree more. A bunch of low level, low skilled people doing a terrible job and wasting a shit ton of money.inteliboy
    • NFP are morally bankrupt. They keep 90% of the cash donated, spend 10% on PR promoting BS. Susan G. Komen has to be the worst. Cancer should be cured by now.Hayoth

i'm a huge US Soccer fan, and have been following the US Women's wonderful road to the World Cup final - it's been awesome!

yesterday watching Laura Bassett's own goal in the last minute of the game literally brought me to tears. it kills me knowing she has to bear that pain and live with that for the rest of her life. bless her heart!

it's just a game but it feels like everything, the whole world on the shoulders of these young women.

it's just heartbreaking no matter what time you are for :`(

It's strange when you realize how many people actually still people in God and heaven and sin and the bible and don't know anything about science.

    • seriously, does believing in science makes you a better person?
if the answer is no, then stfu with the, waaah waaah we bettah dan da dumb believers...
      georgesIII
    • this is why I can´t take atheist seriously, they bore me to death with their pseudo superiority complex, inb4, we bettah because science,
      fuckn quit it already
      georgesIII
    • Is a religious superiority complex more preferable?monospaced
    • It is superior, because it is based around truth and not lying to ourselves.iCanHazQBN
    • What makes someone a "better person" usually has nothing to do with whether they believe in religion or science. That's more of an inherent thing...iCanHazQBN
    • y'all going to hell!moldero
    • ... (your personality). I've known amazing atheists and asshole ones, and super great religious people and asshole religious people.iCanHazQBN
    • Agree. Morality and "goodness" is not unique to religion at all.monospaced
    • honestly, do I need to explain what makes a good human?georgesIII
    • No that's the point. It shouldn't have to be.monospaced
    • Zero critical thinking went into Qbner statement. Science gets a lot of things wrong. All the time. Most recently global warming BS built on lies.Hayoth
    • Most of science is a theoretical belief system. Not even the laws of physics are set in stone. So I agree with Georges, stfu.set
    • There are now feelings in science so technically you can justify anything for the sake of the borg. religion you can justify anything also... however Iyurimon
    • met more nicer religious people then atheist if there is to a comparison.yurimon
    • Am I going nuts? Just nodded in agreement with both G3 and Yuri.Peter
    • Nothing anyone's said is wrong. I think qbner was referring most to the hardcore bible thumpers and their lack of even BASIC science knowledge.monospaced
    • Or perhaps their aversion to even the most fundamental things, because it's science. Just guessing but I don't think we are all that polarized.monospaced

just got back from 10 days of festival life..
Fusion festival for 2 days.. then 5 days of Roskilde Graf camp.. basically hanging out filming and interviewing all the graf writers working.. then a further 3 days of Roskilde Festival proper..

i think i have had enough festivals for this year.

Roskilde is crazy tho.. 135,000 people.. the camping area party starts a week before hand and is bedlam .. one of the camping areas is affectionately called Mogadishu.. We arrived last saturday to graff camp and the camping was already full.. and it smelled like slum village. people piss constantly, everywhere.. all rubbish is pretty much just discarded. there are constantly birds circling over head.. mixed with cacophony of hundreds of PA's systems the kids build and bring with them .. some quite elaborate setups.. completely with multiple subs and a dj booth.. all in the camping area.. running for as long as anyone was sober enough to keep it on.

Watched some good music.. Pharrell, Die Antwoord, Run the Jewels were the best at Roskilde.. SiriusModeselektor was amazing at Fusion..

but yep, transferring directly from one festival to the other.. not sure im going to do that again.. just tooooo long in festival land..

    graff camp was dope tho.

    • i should add, fortunately Graff Camp is a restricted back stage area in the middle of the entire festival.. it was just us back there.. none of the gen popautoflavour
    • sounds fun!scarabin

Got a spur-of-the-moment haircut today at a neighborhood place and they charge $8.

It came out fine and I feel bad that they make so little and that I've ever paid $20+ for the same cut.

    • then... pay they back the extra $12 ;)OBBTKN
    • Always leave a tip. If they're nice people who don't charge much, they probably don't make much money but they should deserve more.grotesk_neue
