This isn't the first time and probably won't be the last,

but why are american blacks so stuck on the race issue,
I swear it's one of the worst echo chamber ever, even when they live in europe and see the integration black have achieved here, they still have to bring up slavery,

yes, yes, I understand, slavery was bad, but for the love of god, all races at one moment or another went through some kind of slavery, but it's like a gag reflex for some, just throw the slavery spunk till it sticks,

ok, so how did we end up on the slavery rant, I made him notice that the web version of whatsapp now have the emoticons divided in race and how ridiculous I found the whole thing,

two minutes into the argument and he bring how considerate it is for all races and how slavery was bad,

    wtf??

because going from one universal color ( i call it simpson yellow) to dividing in shades is more inclusive.. god the good old divide and conquer..

btw this kind of episodes only happens with americans, it happened every time I talk with an american about race issue, two min into it and they get blocked on slavery,
I did have debates about slavery with my african peers and everyone recognise that it was a dark phase of our history but that it's in the past, we have to look toward the future and build our continent because if we don't our awesome continent will remain like it is,

so here are they, tell me how giving the possibility to segment every post by skin color inclusive?

btw I think I'll complain because I can't find my right skin tone, how racist is this :(

    • /sorry for the rant, I'm just tired of having to hear the same tired response,

"muh life is bad, because slavery"
      georgesIII
    • Always agreed with Morgan:

    • are you speaking beyond the realm of the internets like in real life? b/c no one that i know has ever said/alluded to "life is bad, because slavery"bklyndroobeki
    • oooh I'm talking real life man, I actually do have a normal day to day job where I get to interact with other human being, btw did you miss the wholegeorgesIII
    • affirmative action thingy,
ok, let me correct it, "muh life is bad because I'm black and the white man is keeping me down" better?
      georgesIII
    • America is one gigantic stereotype. They are so inundated with media/tv/movies that tell them they have to act a certain way and they buy into it._niko
    • ...They visit Italy and are disappointed that the country isn't full of guinea mobsters like they see on the sopranos._niko
    • Sorry B for the tone, I love my skin color, my big nose, hair, It irritates me to hear people that don't want to help themselves and believe everything is aboutgeorgesIII
    • color and race, but I sound like a broken diskgeorgesIII
    • the morgan freeman bit is gold. the whole chip on the shoulder shit that set touched on the other day isn't the crux of the issue. there will always be disenfragilgamush
    • disenfranchised people who don't like taking personal responsibility for there standing. race or no race, they will find an excusegilgamush
    • ah... it's so hard to unpack under 120/chars, but i hear you about feeding into a particular narrative of self-hate if that's what you're talking about.bklyndroobeki
    • i KIND OF agree that the emoji's could have been kept sort of "neutral" (hieroglyphic style), but it would take ingenuity/thoughtful...bklyndroobeki

    • 3 pronged attack: dole out welfare based on poverty not race, stop forcing the tenets of multiculturalism on school children, get rid of quotas.gilgamush
    • The funniest is when black americans go abroad and see the real world. take Allen Iverson, in the US, acts like ghetto thug. Plays in China: humble human being._niko
    • Because it's perpetuated through their democratic progressive voting block. A tactic of Saul alinsky to attack, divide and conquer.Hayoth
    • we're sick of hearing it here in the u.s. as wellscarabin
    • It's easy to argue this in the abstract but then go to a city like Chicago or Detroit and see the black neighborhoods, it's like another country.yuekit
    • In terms of the absolute poverty there which is direct result of racist policies which lasted til just half a century ago. So that's why they're stuck on it,yuekit
    • because it affects everyday life for them or others that they know. Easy to take the conservative view of let's pretend it never happened, not so easy to changeyuekit
    • the practical reality for millions that live in poverty stricken circumstances.yuekit
    • America thrives on racism, that's why they fight racism with racism.shaft
    • I recall an American mom saying her kid went to school and the teacher taught her some of kids were black and she should treat them equally...shaft
    • ...until then, she had no idea her friends were different. It was the school that introduced the concept of race to her.shaft
    • Not sure you can have much of a debate on here though tbh.bklyndroobeki
    • Similar situation in Canada for the natives. Their community has no opportunity for them to thrive or get out of poverty. And telling them to move out of thepango
    • Community doesn't sound right to say.pango
    • shaft, yup exactly. multiculturalism is all about "celebrating our diversity" it's a crock of shit designed to galvanize, as hayoth pointed out, and it startsgilgamush
    • in elementary schoolgilgamush
    • In what way does "multiculturism" affect kids in school?yuekit
    • I like the "Wesley Snipe" blonde emoji.

      utopian
    • ^ lol,georgesIII
    • yuekit. it is pushed on kids that our differences are what make our society strong. it highlights our dissimilarities in impressionable youthgilgamush
    • and sneakily plays it off as a positive message. we should be embracing our similarities not galvanizing our differences in children's minds at a young agegilgamush
    • Do schools really do that? Like I said above I think 99% of the problem is economic. If a kid comes from a well off background he won't care about race issues.yuekit
    • Whereas for someone growing up in extreme poverty, its very easy to adopt an us vs them attitude.yuekit
    • oh jeez, i strongly disagree with that assessment.gilgamush
    • if only it were all so simplegilgamush
    • You don't think whether someone can get a job and put food on the table overwhelmingly influences their outlook?yuekit
    • I find that a lot easier to believe than some vague theory about multiculturalism in school.yuekit
    • it is part of a large complex problem that i talked about 20 comments up. i wish racism and the effects of it could be summed up so easily, not realistic thoughgilgamush
    • I can say this, then I'm done here. There are some kids in the bronx who are doing their best in H.S. but it's a straight pipeline to jail no matter what. Youbklyndroobeki

    • shit, didn't think my rant will get so many people irritated, in my office I work with 3 other black people, which is strange for a design agency in europe, georgesIII
    • as anecdotal as it is, the only person complaining about race all the time is the USAtian, why is that?georgesIII
    • because all external stimuli in the states is telling peeps that everything is somebody elses fault. poor whites blame the juice, poor blacks blame the crackersgilgamush
