if the right doesn't believe that covid is such a big deal they should volunteer to be infected so we can reach herd immunity much faster.

Exclusive: White House kept FDA in the dark on Russian ventilators for New York and New Jersey

(Reuters) - When U.S. President Donald Trump agreed to accept a shipment of ventilators from Russian President Vladimir Putin at the height of the coronavirus outbreak, the White House did not alert the FDA as it headed to New York and New Jersey, Reuters has learned.

"Trump, Putin and Bolsonaro find their populist playbooks are no match for coronavirus

    Analysis by Angela Dewan, CNN
    Updated 0918 GMT (1718 HKT) May 31, 2020

[...] some populists are finding themselves powerless against the outbreaks ravaging their countries. The US, Brazil and Russia now have the highest number of coronavirus cases in the world, and as their death tolls continue to rise, their economies are taking devastating blows.

Much to their frustration, the macho leaders of these countries are finding the virus immune to their playbooks. Intimidation, fear-mongering and propaganda just aren't working. Being guided by science, communicating transparently and long-term planning are proving the sharper tools."

while world's eyes are now on the situation in the USA, Coronavirus still blowing up in Peru and Brazil.

"Peru reports more than 7,000 new cases"

"The number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Peru rose to 155,671 on Saturday, a jump of 7,386 from the previous day, according to the country's health ministry.

The country reported 141 new coronavirus-related deaths, taking the national death toll to 4,371, according to the ministry.

Peru has the second-highest number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Latin America, behind Brazil."

Peru is a poor country, they can't take/afford the kind of full lockdown measures other countries took to reduce the spread...

And it seems nobody sending them stuff like masks, respirators, no help for Peru?!

Scientist posits ‘wild’ hypothesis that cross immunity could slow pandemic

    https://www.timesofisrael.com/sc…

“Clearly some individuals are more susceptible to the disease than others; after being infected some individuals have severe clinical symptoms and might even die, while others might show very little in terms of clinical symptoms,” they told AFP by email.

“Our study suggests that preexisting immunity might be one of the factors to be considered; but at this point is simply an hypothesis that needs to be addressed with further experiments.”

    • This doesn't seem that wild, they are the same family of viruses.grafician

"Coronavirus May Be a Blood Vessel Disease, Which Explains Everything

What do all of these symptoms have in common? An impairment in blood circulation. Add in the fact that 40% of deaths from Covid-19 are related to cardiovascular complications, and the disease starts to look like a vascular infection instead of a purely respiratory one."

If I can work from home until businesses re-open in NYC, and can live without seeing my friends and family in person, and if I don't need to interact with the public... what reason would I have to bother getting tested for antibodies at the present time? Can anyone answer this?

Chances are Corona will burn out by itself through mutation:

    https://uk.reuters.com/article/u…
"The new coronavirus is losing its potency and has become much less lethal, a senior Italian doctor said on Sunday. "In reality, the virus clinically no longer exists in Italy," said Alberto Zangrillo, the head of the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan in the northern region of Lombardy, which has borne the brunt of Italy's coronavirus contagion."

    https://science.slashdot.org/com…
"Actually this is how a typical process of natural selection of novel pathogens like this particular coronavirus go. Most people forget that primary opponents of any new viral agent are not our immune systems but other strains of the same virus competing for the same cells in human body. That means that various strains of this virus compete with one another for living space.

And that automatically selects for more benign traits over time, because strains that don't kill the host and therefore don't die with the host. (And need a live specimen to spread rather than a dead one as is the case with most viruses that are spread via cough and similar symptoms - dead people don't cough). Such strains tend to be more effective at spreading, giving it a distinct evolutionary advantage."
