U.S. deaths soared in early weeks of pandemic, far exceeding number attributed to covid-19
https://www.washingtonpost.com/i…
In the early weeks of the coronavirus epidemic, the United States recorded an estimated 15,400 excess deaths, nearly two times as many as were publicly attributed to covid-19 at the time, according to an analysis of federal data conducted for The Washington Post by a research team led by the Yale School of Public Health.

The curve looks pretty flattened in NYC https://www1.nyc.gov/site/doh/co…
It looks like about 11k deaths in New York vs 15k+ with a 1/3 listed as "probable" added to the count.
I don't care what China News Network says, Andrew "Nipple Barbells" Cuomo and Mayor Wilhelm (deBlasio) are corrupt fuck ups and will be screaming bloody murder for Trump to give them Federal funds to bail out the City...

Stupid, stupid, greedy sons of bitches politicians. They are already talking about reopening pubs, malls, fitness clubs. Fucking people! I wonder what does money care when you already dead that makes it's so damn important for politicians and their immorality.
Uruguay facing an imminent increase of infections, starting cold season, and -yeeeei- re-opening unnecessary businesses that gather lot’s of people.
The pandemic might have hit some continents/countries harder than other, but stupidity and selfish, greedy motherfuckers are equally present everywhere.

Remember last week, my “proudly Uruguayan” post? Ok... 41 new infected in one single day, yesterday. (600 so far, and 14 dead). I hope numbers won’t double for next week’s update...
- mate you need proper lockdown down there, unless you want all your older population to die out by autumngrafician
- btw relaxing the lockdown down here in Romania means just going out around the block without needing to check out the motives! school closed till september!grafician

An old friend in Texas just dropped this wisdom on Facebook.
My response:
With all due respect, this is a ridiculous graphic. It’s not a matter of being afraid of unafraid nor is it a matter of “freedom.”
People can be “not afraid” all they want, but each of those activities listed puts people at risk as long as this virus exists, especially if wearing a mask or gloves is slated in the “afraid” category.
It’s not a matter of afraid / not afraid. It’s a matter of caution and empathy vs. recklessness and selfishness. You can be afraid - it’d be crazy not not be afraid right now - and as a result of that be a cautious and empathetic participant in society, to ensure the health and safety of those around you.
Stay well.

- I'm really surprised NB's figures are so low. I would have expected NFLD to be at the bottom of the league table.Continuity
- Anyway, I'm happy about that: my mum and sister are in NB.Continuity
- lower population and density?pango
- NFLD has the benefit of being, you know ... an island.
Speaking of which, I don't see PEI anywhere on here.Continuity - Everyone died in PEI, we buried the island and are hoping no one will notice.zarkonite
- PEI only declared an emergency a week or two back, they may not even have enough cases to show.i_monk
- PEI has 26 confirmed cases and 24 recovered.i_monk
- doesn't look like its slowing down in AB....pango
- case charts are fairly useless, like deaths/nation rather than deaths/population, cases depends on testing. Alberta is doing twice as many tests as BC********
- ya... they have more than double confirm cases but less than double the tests done. compare to BCpango
- this is not a dick contest. im worried is all. we still get workers traveling from AB to BCpango

- To achieve "herd immunity", you need around 70 percent of the entire population to be infected...dmay

Piglets aborted, chickens gassed as pandemic slams meat sector
https://www.reuters.com/article/…
With the pandemic hobbling the meat-packing industry, Iowa farmer Al Van Beek had nowhere to ship his full-grown pigs to make room for the 7,500 piglets he expected from his breeding operation. The crisis forced a decision that still troubles him: He ordered his employees to give injections to the pregnant sows, one by one, that would cause them to abort their baby pigs.
