@phanlo - checking out that course. Do you have issues with the shortcuts not being the same as hers?
- she hits ctrl rmb in object mode and her pivot centers to face. if I do same it extrudes face to mouse. couple other things too. driving me crazywhere_am_i
- I've just been watching it a few times for it to make sense before doing anything. Hopefully it works outPhanLo
- ah ok. Let me know if you have same issue. Training looks decent, she does go quite quick over some stuff then slow on others but guess that's all tutswhere_am_i

Starting this, it's already made a bit more sense of the interface. C4D was a lot easier interface wise, but I think i can get my head round Blender.
-- WEEKS?!
I already learned C4D in a few daysgrafician - You could learn anything with your great big brain. It’s set out as a lesson per week, but it’s up to you how you want to do the coursePhanLo
- learned c4d in a few days.. ha ha, right... even the pros are still learning new things each day with it. you mean you got the basics in a few days.shapesalad
- WEEKS?!

One has been learning Blender past week... having come from C4D.
Wow.... it's amazing.
The archipack add on is fantastic.
The materials, lighting, Eevee - incredible.
The quality of image gained is just stunning. On a 2013 iMac. Back in 2013 I spent hours rendering from C4D and it always had that 'computer graphics' look to it, looked shit frankly.
Whereas with Blender.. one weekend and I've got that nice realistic sunlight through a window onto wood floor look going on - and it looks stunning, no need to do loads of compositing.
Dive in guys. takes a few hours to get your head around the UI, shortcuts etc... but boom, once you get it.. and it's Free!!
- one thing you need on mac: the old roller ball might mouse, the newer touch mouse is useless, you need that middle button/roller.shapesalad
- every time i have a crack at it, i get beaten back by the sheer complexity of the thing.hans_glib
- im going to try to slowly change over. been on c4d about 14 years so going to be hell lol.where_am_i
- just binge watch youtube tutorials, follow some, play around. You'll get it. Concepts remain the same as in C4D, just a different UI which is surprisngly nicer.shapesalad
- < Forgot to mention that lovely light on a wood floored room interior - fucking realtime! unbelievable quality.shapesalad
- and I didn't need to learn octane or buy several gpu's or mess with unreal engine.shapesalad
- i have been on redshift on c4d since swapping from arnold about five years back. so may get redshift for it if I get into it. I just struggle to find time towhere_am_i
- commit to learning an entire new software, and for work obviously need the speed/knowledge of c4d. But I want to put an effort in. Maxon has lost the plot a bitwhere_am_i

- It really tricks you a few times that it's real.PhanLo
- ^ Really does .. so smoothRamanisky2

- thats quite a game changer. I feel too old to learn new software from ground up after being on c4d for so many years but if I was starting out I would gowhere_am_i
- blender and houdini. maxon has become so expensive. Its great but the cost out the box plus all the plugins you need for production, gets a bit crazywhere_am_i

- uh oh, pls noBeeswax
- It's jus money, so is a good thing. i don't think they can get their greedy talons into it in any negative way. Likely just shoring up against Autodesk.Nairn
- Oh boy, not a good signGnash
- Only about $30K per year - for now. But taking money from Adobe...bruh...grafician
- pirates i guessneverscared
- and back to C4d it is then. oh well, was nice meeting, good luck with all the UI changes to make you as useless as illy.shapesalad
- The founder of Blender (Ton) has made it clear in the past that sponsorship doesn't give sponsors any special access or decision making abilitymonNom
- Lots of big cos are supporting blender in the past few years. So far, so good. https://fund.blender…monNom
- Oh the good great saints of AdobeAQUTE
- blender is free so its not a good signcannonball1978

Is there a "You suck at photoshop" equivalent for blender 3d?
If so, linky plz. I wanna laugh while I learn how much I suck at blender.
- maybe Ian Hubert's Lazy Tutorials
https://www.youtube.…monNom - thx mon! (in Jamaican voice)cherub

- eevee is amazing but I keep having crashes when I actually render (I only do stills so cycles is fine for me). I use eevee for all work until final render thosausages
- might have some weird shader screwing things up who knowssausages
- Maybe not enough GPU ram. Try rendering a smaller res. Does it still crash? Use fewer/smaller textures? Simpler scenes?monNom

Great content. Those modifiers are looking a lot better than some of C4D techniques.
- To think some nerdy 14 year old can download blender for free, follow tase tutorials, and leave their PC rendering while at school...shapesalad
- ... and end up with broadcast quality sneaker adverts that rival a massive studio in NY/LDN.

Just incredible work here by Ian Hubert
- Yeah, really loved it.
Strange to see all the pieces fit together from his vids.PhanLo
- Yeah, really loved it.
- imbecile1
corridor crew redid TRON shots with blender, not much of a tutorial, but the results are impressive. they bump that aesthetic into modern times as well. if a movie were to be redone along this thinking, i think it could be a hit.
- PhanLo0
Quite a helpful tip. :-)
-- She is fun to watch, sounds like she is gonna burst out laughing any momentNoggin
- Yeah! Great work and funny too. Makes learning easy. This is good too
https://www.youtube.…PhanLo - she gets silly at the end, but super nice girl.cherub

All Blender. Incredible.
- So gooodPhanLo
- Wow, I'm hooked. I need to know who is the rude man on the motorcycle.garbage

“ I used the new Geometry Nodes from Blender to create this system for procedural buildings using prebuilt modules. This way I can make different variations, set their dimensions and distribute objects like plants in an easier way.”
- Love the style.Chimp
- Awesome! Would love to play with that system.brt44
- Love the technique. Definently going to look at that.islandbridge
