One has been learning Blender past week... having come from C4D.

    Wow.... it's amazing.

The archipack add on is fantastic.

The materials, lighting, Eevee - incredible.

The quality of image gained is just stunning. On a 2013 iMac. Back in 2013 I spent hours rendering from C4D and it always had that 'computer graphics' look to it, looked shit frankly.

Whereas with Blender.. one weekend and I've got that nice realistic sunlight through a window onto wood floor look going on - and it looks stunning, no need to do loads of compositing.

Dive in guys. takes a few hours to get your head around the UI, shortcuts etc... but boom, once you get it.. and it's Free!!

    • one thing you need on mac: the old roller ball might mouse, the newer touch mouse is useless, you need that middle button/roller.shapesalad
    • every time i have a crack at it, i get beaten back by the sheer complexity of the thing.hans_glib
    • im going to try to slowly change over. been on c4d about 14 years so going to be hell lol.where_am_i
    • just binge watch youtube tutorials, follow some, play around. You'll get it. Concepts remain the same as in C4D, just a different UI which is surprisngly nicer.shapesalad
    • < Forgot to mention that lovely light on a wood floored room interior - fucking realtime! unbelievable quality.shapesalad
    • and I didn't need to learn octane or buy several gpu's or mess with unreal engine.shapesalad
    • i have been on redshift on c4d since swapping from arnold about five years back. so may get redshift for it if I get into it. I just struggle to find time towhere_am_i
    • commit to learning an entire new software, and for work obviously need the speed/knowledge of c4d. But I want to put an effort in. Maxon has lost the plot a bitwhere_am_i
