- Aww, the little boy that always gets his panties in a wad when women are in movies needed his nap.garbage
- He's clearly never even read the book if he thinks any part of it could be told in 5 minutes. What a wanker.garbage
- x1.5 speed generationdrgs
- I hate Tim Poop, but the movie is a slow burn. Still, I would never walk out halfway through, so fuck his cuck beanie faggot facebabydick
- so just like the first one?fooler
- *walked out at the half of the movie, thinks he saw it all. delusionalsted
- I've read the books, my wife hasn't, I had to keep pausing the movie to explain things. That story can not be told any faster, sorry Tim.mathinc
- lol same. I turned the subtitles on, and she still thought Shai Hulud was another one of Paul's names.garbage
- I like the first Dune, is this slower? I don't remember to find the first slow, was long time ago I was almost a kid. but I liked the moviei_was
- @garbage You don't need to read a book before watching the movie of iti_was
- Agree and disagree. Herbert did some very intricate world-building in the first one. You're going to miss a lot of things because DV chose not to include..garbage
- ..the internal dialogues that Lynch did. If you've seen the first one, you probably won't need the exposition. But also, read Dune! It's pretty amazing.garbage
- It's a good slow burn of a film, but there's a ton to appreciate if you know what you're seeing. I have two major qualms, but I'll keep quiet about it for now.garbage
- I read it! when I was a kid, I couldn't get my eyes out of the book! read all Dune in a row. Fascinating to remember this.i_was
- This guy is such a punk. Would not listen.MondoMorphic

It also felt like a TV show if you split it in like 4 parts.
But then again it just shows how far TV shows have come and so close to cinema movies in terms of production quality.

Was hoping Villeneuve had used some Jodorowsky influence as that shit was mental, but was still happy with the first instalment. Obviously it was as captivating as all his films, beautifully shot and i never felt bored or overwhelmed either. Better than any of the Lord of the Rings nonsense, but then those stories were not for me! 8.5/10

I loved it but then again I love all of Denis Villeneuve work ... didn’t see it in a theater but with my sound system and big screen TV it was a fun ride.
Looking forward to part II
- I thought the sound/music was so loud in the theater that it was at times hard to hear the dialogue. Did you find that to be the case watching at home?MondoMorphic
- No not too bad ... I found I had to lower the volume down a couple of times when the couch began to reverberate lol
but overall no.Ramanisky2 - But I can totally see how in the theater the sound levels can be too much.Ramanisky2
- Saw it in the theater yesterday. Loved it! I've the read the books many times over and I'm delighted with this cast, the beautiful visuals and score. A+misterhow

Saw it Friday night, late showing. Pre cinema warm up included 8 cocktails, mdma and about 2foot of reefer.
Absolutely loved it. Visually and aurally magnificent. The sweeping vistas and subtle technology effects like the shields were just right. It felt more personal than Bladerunner, more human.
Javier Bardem ruled every scene he was in. I was disappointed with Zendaya and Jason Mamoa and wanted more of Oscar Isaacs.
However, i cannot recall one single scene from it. And so i'm gonna watch it again this week, less 'adjusted'. :)
- I reckon it could do with a few re-watches, quite a lot to take in. Good going on being that melted to go see it.PhanLo
- Thanks. It took it's toll, the task of buying a Coke and some popcorn before hand was a test.... an epic test. We failed. Had to ask a twelve year old...Morning_star
- ...to order the drinks through the most overly complex UI. Before this we'd queued for 10mins not realizing you needed to order on the McDs-like screens.Morning_star

- Hehe! Decent. :-)PhanLo
- lol...I think I'd declare any film a masterpiece after what you described.yuekit
- Went with my wife and a bunch of drinks; was fantastic. I’d say like the blade runner remake the tone was just right.ideaist
- can't imagine watching a movie on mdmaMilan
- It's different experience than you'd imagine and one that i find pleasant. Got to be the right kind of movie though.Morning_star
- Jason who?oey_oey
- lol, minus the kids and the mdma, that's how I watched The Lighthouse in theater. Dozed off for 15 minutes near the middle. I loved it, was beautiful.garbage
- I wish i'd got to see The Lighthouse in a theatre. Bloody love that film.Morning_star
- haha, I paid x2 £14 to see Madmax fury road in 3D stoned to fuck and pretty smashed on heavy stout. Was nicely asleep within 10 minutes!. Woke at end creditsIanbolton
- @morningstar Even though I missed one of the most crucial scenes, it was a wonderful and confusing experience.garbage
- @ian Did the same for Fury Road, and one of my friends slept through the entire movie. He sawed logs the entire time.garbage

I still think the best Dune film was the 1984 version (yes, that everyone hates). When you are trying to image world 10,000 years from now it HAS to be weird and no other films made the world weird enough for me. This new Dune film seems to be made exactly for the year 2021 - it looks dated before even leaving the theaters.
- I like your thinking.
Really liked the new one, but some of the freakier elements from Lynch's movie have always stuck with me.PhanLo - God here we go again with this guy. 1984 was a disaster. It was not visionary, it was bad 50ies scifi.tank02
- Your world is already pretty weird thoughIanbolton
- I enjoyed both versions of the movie but I think I know what you mean.MondoMorphic

Yeah visually good looking but trying too hard to be abstract and pretentious. Every scene feels stretched with the underlying dreamy soundtrack. Also slow (too many slow-mo shots too) but maybe the movie isn’t as exciting because the whole Dune story isn’t that exciting to me.
What’s weird is it’s so far into the future and yet they only have knifes, daggers and swords to fight. The weapons seem always attached to the spaceships only.

Tried to watch it last night but fell asleep, too long... too slow? Maybe just not into this type of shit.
- Dune should be available on Betamax soon
I heard that it is bombing hard.utopian - maybe it's your hamster attention spanMilan
- "Bombing hard?" We'll see I guess. Wide release isn't until the 22nd.evilpeacock

Too short...
- Even at over 2H...
But can't wait for the next part
Villeneuve is master film maker.grafician - https://www.youtube.…GuyFawkes
- Loved it. I like that they didn't dumb it down too much, like most Hollywood adaptations tend to do.Milan

It's been playing in Berlin for the last month. I went to see it with my girlfriend, we were not sure about it because of Timothée Chalamet. We were surprised by the age diversity of the audience, there were a lot of people in their 20's - 30's, but also a lot of older SiFi guys whom I did expect.
It was long, epic and dug deeper than the previous films and series, as it was only part 1 of a 3 or 4 part series. The squeezed a lot from the source material.
I'm a big fan of the books, I doubt there is anyway to portray the nuance and the feeling from the books in a film or series.
The whole time I was wishing I could have streamed this at home in front of my TV, so I can pause the film and take in all I was seeing.
I'd watch it again.

Looked good.

The proper Jodorowsky documentary was so good, this is a condensed version with comedy voices.
