Go Compare production budget is miniscule. The Compare the market campaigns are a little more pricey. The extra revenue that they generate, because every fucker wants one of those fuzzy wankers, far outweighs the spend. It's formulaic and the frequency and market reach dictates the budget
- Besides never said they were unsuccessful, just they're tacky shit pandering to mouthbreathers and why I no longer watch TVanimatedgif

^ Have you seen the adverts I'm talking about, theres nothing low budget about Compare the Market or Go Compares adverts.

I'm not sure you understand what advertising is and what it's meant to achieve. Those 'awful', 'terrible' and 'bad' adverts are very, very successful. If 'annoying the fuck out of' people inspires the required response then your criticisms are baseless. Repetition is the key to these ads so the budget is low for production and high on media spend. In short, they work.

In the UK at least last year TV adverts just decided to try and annoy the fuck out of you (mostly insurance companies). I blame that terrible "Compare the Meerkat" shit. It spawned that awful We Buy Any Car advert and the equally bad Go Compare advert.
All based on puns, tired ideas or just fucking stupid songs.
puns != creativity

Well the problem is we usually get motionally invested into these things, since we feel that we are trying to create something meaningfull, or at least trying to justify and give it some sort of meaning. Most of us have been frustrated at one point or another, mostly because these precious things we invest time and energy in get ruined. I'm thinking one day when the person stops trying and starts acting - he will be called a professional.

^ effective for me... I definitely know who Vern Fonk is.... not what he does, nor would I ever trust him with my money/car/life/whatever. But he is a minor celebrity.

Really?
It still amazes me how precious creatives get about the integrity of their product. We are whores, never forget that - the man who pays the bills calls the shots.
Weeping into your beards about how the client has ruined it or the focus groups 'just don't get it' is weak and shows a complete ignorance of the industry. If you want to create the Ads of your dreams re-mortgage your houses, sell you cars and stump up the cash yourselves, because it's likely that somewhere along the line the client has.

- I don't think anyone here doesn't realize this or "doesn't get it." I think people here are just talking about how it happens.monospaced
