Joan Is Awful was the only episode that felt like a Black Mirror episode. Loch Henry was OK, but not a BM episode. Beyond The Sea was so predictable we called every turn of the plot after the first 10 minutes and ended up fast forwarding through it. What a waste of the stunt casting. The rest of the season was more Twilight Zone than Black Mirror. And since when does the show do things set in alternate pasts? The entire premise was the plausibility of these horrors in the near future.

I enjoyed a few of season 6, but weakest season so far.

ever since black mirror got bought by netflix, the series has degraded from examining power dynamics and their consequential effects on human psychology (be they from technology, private enterprise, or the state) into a one-trick pony show of 'gotcha' moments.
i watched a few episodes of the new season and by the end of the first act, had figured out how the second and third would go. the reason the first few seasons were so great is that the characters were trapped in the world crafted for them, and the audience was witnessing a single story from it - but that was relatable as we are all trapped in this nightmare of a reality. but the approach to storytelling began to shift with the netflix acquisition and now it's as much content fodder as anything else.

Season 6 on Netflix now, in case you forgot.
- Goddamn! Thanks for the heads up!srhadden

- Am I the only person that wished he'd stuck with Wipe series? BM was good for a few, but honestly I can't be arsed. I prefer the man behind the desk.garbage
- (this could be the words of a man who sent an on spec script that was rejected, yet there was an eerily similar story in S2)garbage
- I don’t even know the Wipe series.monospaced
- its on streamberrysted
- @mono that's the Charlie Brooker's Weekly Wipe.sted
- @garbage What?? You did?!Continuity
- Loved them, but man, every episode is so depressing!formed
- Yeah this show is such a bummerscarabin
- Great stuff thoughscarabin
- @cont Yeah. I was a huge fan of his work when BM first came out, and I thought maybe I wouldn't write copy for the rest of my life.garbage
- The details are boring and I will keep them vague, but I deserve a writing credit because one of the ideas that I had fairly fleshed out was plagiarized.garbage
- Not blaming Brooker at all. Likely a handler that took my idea and passed it along. It's my dumbest humble brag.garbage
- It was over a decade ago; I've moved on. The entertainment industry is a sea of cutthroats. I'll probably have to wade back in after AI takes over copy.garbage
- +1 garbage I loved all the Wipes. Cunk was better there too. And Nathan Barley was a another earlier high point with Sir Christopher of Morris.MrT
- Agreed on Barley and Morris. I was deemed severely uncool and very beatupable in high school because nobody got my Blue Jam or Brass Eye references.garbage
- Can't blame them, they were inbred hicks.garbage
- Watching first ep now!prophetone
- Great first epprophetone

Don't know if I can be arsed with this...Jrdntnnr - @cont, yeah, but is what it is. Small world though. I first knew of Limmy from his Wipe segments. Little did I know that back in the day I was..garbage
- ..talking shit to actual Limmy on QBN. A hilarious small world.garbage
- That's the same Limmy?! God, have I not been paying attention?Continuity
- @continuity, you really are clueless!palimpsest
- Here's Limmy!

- Ah, yup. I own that cluelessness.Continuity
- Man, I remember Linmy’s flash piano thing that played “ You. Are. A. Fucking. Cunt”_niko
- Ha yeah, he was one of us. Made a spicy piano.garbage
- Ok watched it. Found it pretty meh. Miss the futurism and don't find the dive into the supernatural very refreshingsrhadden
- Just watched 1st episode of season 6. Started out great, progressed nicely, and then it completely fell apart and went to shit last 20 min. Bummer.Krassy
- Heh, I felt the reverse, got more engaged in the last 20 mins :)jagara
- I felt the opposite, I mean :)jagara

Just finished season 1 episode 1. Why did Carlton Bloom hang himself?

black mirror tamed off substantially
like watching the sniping vipers episode ... we all thought the ending was going to be the kid playing the game and basically getting raped by the friend in VR because of the contextual horror of anonymity in that precedent. instead it's just a new age "well we're partners so let's figure how we can fuck other people" mantra and meh.
this shit should scare people, not alleviate them.

First one has the dumbest end.
- Spoiler ---
Your woman says she likes roleplaying. Instead of giving her a VR thing and explore fantasies with her in the VR, he goes on to jerk off with his bro Karl and sends his wife to other men in real life.

Pretty impressed with the musical twist in "Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too"
- nice voice from Miley Cyrusapi

This season is the weakest of the bunch, with the last episode being corny as fuck.
- Thought it was pretty funny...a nice break from the usual gloominess of the series.yuekit
- I don't get all the hate on it, I thought it was great and a nice break as well.atomholc
- was good. i think this episode was made for a big family audience.api
- Is was a break but it didnt meet my expectations for quality. None of these episodes made me think reallyzcannonball1978

(obviously spoilers)
i'm a big andrew scott fan so my first watch was "smithereens," and while most reviews call it the weakest of the bunch, i found it an intriguingly sublime departure from black mirror's tradition of hitting-you-over-the-head writing.
though the story in and of itself is simple and perhaps a bit drawn out, the layers of despair involved are quite staggering - the private vs state power, the mid-tier executive infighting over "exposure," the both hypocritical and deluded founder, to the average person's inability to deal with life-altering despair during life-changing times. capping it all off with a rather nonchalant dismissal of violence and it's a really stellar episode, perhaps because it dares to break the mold the show had cast itself in and dare to show the boredom of what has become everyday horror.

I can't help but wonder i choose-your-own-adventure Black Mirror isn't just a way to further profile us and data mine us based on choices to fulfill the narrative.
- ...with a show that's designed to point out the perils of that.MrAbominable
- You don't really give away any info Netflix doesn't already have. Assuming you can profile someone based on what movies and shows they watch.i_monk
- assume they already know what movies you like though. next level in metadata profiling would be how you react at each pressure point.MrAbominable
- It's a movie, you can't assume the weight behind any choice.i_monk

I Love the first series.

“On the biggest day of Stefan’s life, over 60% of his friends from the future fed him Frosties.” - @BlackMirror
“Compared to the rest of the world, Brits were *less* likely to waste a good cup of tea (obviously). Bandersnatchers in Britain chose “throw tea” only 52.9% of the time. The rest of the world do so 55.9% of the time. - @NetflixUK
“73% chose to ACCEPT the job at Tuckersoft.” - @Netflix
“Out of the 5 main endings, the one where Stefan goes on the train with his mum *fights tears* was the path least traveled.” - @NXonNetflix
