ever since black mirror got bought by netflix, the series has degraded from examining power dynamics and their consequential effects on human psychology (be they from technology, private enterprise, or the state) into a one-trick pony show of 'gotcha' moments.

i watched a few episodes of the new season and by the end of the first act, had figured out how the second and third would go. the reason the first few seasons were so great is that the characters were trapped in the world crafted for them, and the audience was witnessing a single story from it - but that was relatable as we are all trapped in this nightmare of a reality. but the approach to storytelling began to shift with the netflix acquisition and now it's as much content fodder as anything else.
