- when I started working in a university the IT guys were very against moving to office 365 because it would risk the jobs of the guys that managed servers...kingsteven
- and now everything is ms, people fear if they fix their software people will be out of jobs.kingsteven

Algorithms, no matter where you are on the internet, constantly suggesting Joe Rogan clips.
Fuck off already.
I liked it better when it was Gordon Ramsay clips, and even that was irritating enough
- I don't understand Gordon's rise to fame, he wasn't that great of a chef in NYC, not horrible but not special. Fuck the Algocanoe
- Perhaps because his rise to cooking fame was nothing to do with America, where he was mostly just a sweary mouthpiece for crappy reality shows.MrT
- Actually he worked in NYC as a cook, he wasn't a reality show star first, read againcanoe
- Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean it didn't happen. Read again? You patronising twat.MrT
- So glad this algorithm hasn’t found me. I’m still on home repair and cooking vids.monospaced
- Yeah canoe. You must be thinking of someone else. Ramsey was world renowned long before he was on American tv.monospaced
- He certainly never worked as a cook for anyone in the US, ever, let alone in nyc.monospaced

The head of IT at my company.
I've mentioned him a few times before but he's escalating. Our designers are having our company computers shipped back to the office so we can have Mac Minis that will remote into the original computers. I've been the first to use this system and it's nearly unusable. The lag time is mind crushing. Command-spacebar to zoom in Illustrator and Photoshop doesn't work. Command-option-/ won't replace footage with After Effects layers. Sometimes connectivity will drop out for a few seconds. I'll have to log in about 5 times often for things like screensavers on both local and remote computers. So, now, I have a PC workstation they spent $18k on that will be handicapped to a point where I've decided to buy my own computer so I can sidestep this nightmare.
On top of that he hasn't fixed my workstation in weeks, he took away our ability to upgrade our own software and keeps us nearly a year behind in upgrades and our servers have been down for two weeks.

OpenTable, where is your cuisine filter? You're a restaurant app ffs!
- The search icon.monospaced
- And right under the search bar are the cuisines. It’s far from intuitive. Separated from the deeper filtering.monospaced
- But there's a limited amount of cuisines in that horizontal bar. Search doesn't work with barrios, it searches the entire city of Detroit. I'm raging at 6:18am!canoe

I probably say this every other year, but: Christmas sandwiches and food in supermarkets in the middle of October.
a) Christmas sandwiches are objectively shit.
b) IT'S THE MIDDLE OF FUCKING OCTOBER.- "Ooh, dry leftover mess sandwiches? Sure, I want those for two and half months!".Nairn
- in other news, I bought some Mince pies at least 2 weeks agoIanbolton
- We don’t have Christmas sandwiches here. Not that I know of. I have to find out what they are!monospaced
- The US version would be the sandwiches we make after Thanksgiving, with cranberry sauce, turkey, gravy and stuffing.monospaced
- Turkey, ham, stuffing, cranberry sauce, yum!mort_
- What about a Greggs festive bake? I had one a day for the 24 days up to christmas and my gut was terribly unhappyIanbolton

To the smaller agencies / clients of which I'm a 3rd party designer to your main client that think by handing off a PDF packed w/YOUR CLIENT's comments / discussions / non-prescriptive and even prescriptive obvious changes that it's then my job as your designer to INTERPRET THAT CRAP and 'choose' which text to update and which to ignore etc... take a hike w/that nonsense... flush that nonsense internally through your writers / legal and provide clear and concise text changes so I can go about designing... <3
- I feel seenmonospaced
- At this point, I see it like if they’re going to let me interpret it then I’m going to own that shit. Legal loves this hahamonospaced
- You are seen, brother <3
I’m tempted to just ‘interpret’ and put legal thru hell... but that could also kill my contract hahaPonyBoy - lol, do we work at the same place?monospaced
- My contract was just extendedmonospaced
- i am not a good writer but the amount of editorial production i have to do on subjects i know nothing about to get my job done is upsetting.kingsteven
- Amen, I had a small agency working with HUGE multi million Nasdaq traded company wanting me to write headlines and body copy for multiple emails blasts a day...fooler
- ... about products I had no idea what they were or would never buy or be interested in when I was only hired to "design email blasts".fooler
- i think this is systemic most client facing account manager/coordinator roles have been hollowed out to a email trafficker type rolejonny_quest_lives
- copy pasting client feedback is now the norm... at least you're getting consolidated feedback? some projects are just rolling notes throughout the dayjonny_quest_lives
- no way to run an agency... hidden factories just eating up resources.jonny_quest_lives
- One of my PMs is a genius and can write and interpret strategically, and collaborate with me smartly. The other passes on garbage it’s so infuriating.monospaced
