They acquired Made by Sofa in june http://www.madebysofa.com/blog/f…
They made great apps like Kaleidoscope and Versions, I'm sure they will do great things for Facebook.

Which blog theme from monstertemplate.com did Facebook use?

At least they don't have the "aesthetic variation" that plagued myspace

Oh, goodie, I can't wait to see all of the comments on old pics and wall posts ex-girlfriends made on my profile. Ugh.
Visually, though, I have to say it's an improvement, for once.

i realize this is created with good intentions but as per the goofy comments above, in a way this seems like a dangerous exercise in dredging up the past...
- With any luck, the privacy control will be super-tight. That's my main worry.Continuity

First there was big brother... and now in a way there's facebook and other social sites that are turning you and your friends etc, into mini celebrities.
If you use facebook as indicated in that timeline video, your fans can know everything about your entire life and keep track of you each day.
It's as if, in the future - and to some degree now - facebook and the like are creating a world were we no longer have 'real' friends, but rather 'fans', liking out every real life move that we share online.
We could take it the next logical step further and create some sort of hovering web cam to follow us around 24 hours a day and provide a constant video stream to on out facebook status. Feeding our fans with mindless trivia. They can sit there watching you all day - clicking the like button when you do something mildly interesting to them. And then Facebook can provide a highlights show of your day based on the most commonly 'liked' things you did.
How far do we take this 'sharing' online trivia?
Where will be 100 years from now?
How will children born today in to a world of facebook know any better?
Frankly - it's scary stuff. I'm logging off, shutting down, powering off and checking out.
They ought to call it Triviabook.

If it's actually an improvement then Ill keep my mouth shut, but noone seemed to have a problem with how it was before, so if they are just changing shit for the hell of it then that's usually the beginning of the end.
Myspace was ridiculously popular until they started changing shit and it went downhill fast.
- ^ looks like myspace, it got too modular = complicated for avg userBattleAxe

Sure, it if you are young and uhh don't have many life events its not that great. However if you've got a family its crazy. It really is a LIFE page. I've been adding things to my my profile look better since I got timeline and you can't help but have nostalgia as you add photos and events from your life. I have 3 kids and I think it would be pretty cool to see all of their parents lives through photos and what not in front of them. (hopefully this will last)

Maybe its because I'm a judgmental fuck...
But seriously if I had that guy's vanilla as fuck life I'd eat a gun. What a boring existence.
