Good read.

It seems to me that if you are a Conservative leaning Canadian who resides outside of Quebec, then you are voting for the Cons or you aren't voting at all. There is no other choice for Conservative folks.
If you're centre or left you're likely voting for Liberal or NDP (for a variety of reasons) or you're not voting at all.
The Conservatives aren't going to convert anyone who votes against them. The NDP & Liberals aren't going to convert anyone who normally votes Conservative.
So what each party needs to do in order to win is convince as many non-voters as possible to vote for them. This is difficult, because people who don't vote typically stay that way. The other solution is to convince people who normally vote for the other team to stay home.
- I don't agree, I think the Cons have lost a lot of support over their econ practices, (potash), but probably picked some libs up as well********
- up as well********
- Really? I sense this election being a repeat of the last one.********

^bring back the PC party. "Unite the Right" was a terrible idea, now the right is doomed to be full of religious wing nuts from the old Reform/Alliance days.
Joe Clarke was correct it wasn't a good move...

I think voter turn out will be record low, since so many people are just pissed to have to go back to the polls again already. That said, I think the people most motivated to get off their ass will be the ones against the Conservatives.

Every surveys in the news lead to the exact same results as 2008. Total letdown.

nb - Last week the Libs saw a jump in the polls at the expense of the NDP and Bloc. Those three parties can gain or lose from each other, but the Liberals can also gain from moderate/centrist conservatives freaked out by the Cons and their Tea Party agenda. I really detest the idea of "unite the left" but the Conservative Reform Alliance Party (CRAP) may have forced it.

Didn't realize Harper's campaign promises were all "ifs"

I'm hoping for a Liberal minority gov't, or a quickly-turfed Con gov't replaced by a Liberal-NDP coalition.
Our parliamentary system is about 200 years out of date, and these are the best possible outcomes without overhauling it.
- I see the NDP loosing a lot of ground in this election, just based on lawn signs compared to the last one.spot13

This morning, a survey say Harper will get his majority by 12 pts in front of Liberals.
I DONT UNDERSTAND PEOPLE
- Especially considering the latest about the Auditor General.Continuity
- Canadians are sick of elections. It's either conservative majority or and election in 2012spot13
- I don't think they're sick of elections; they're sick of the same old shit they get from both the Libs and the Cons. There isn't any really appreciable difference between the two.Continuity

- nut up or shut up or move to fucking China if you don't appreciate democracy********
- I'll vote, cos it's my right to. Otherwise, I've got no emotional stake in this, I know it's another Con minority.Continuity

Bump for the debate.
Duceppe is being whiny, Harper is a robot, Ignatieff is angry, Layton is OK.
