Silly frenchies. They would be up shits creek without the rest of Canada. I'm not even a Canadian and I realize this.
Have fun with no economy, health care, military, social assistance, etc. Actually, on second thought you should split. We would stand to gain your beloved Canadiens as an American team.
Personally I think Canada should take all of those separtists and ship them over to France if they don't want to be Canadian.

This is a stupid conversation anyway considering it doesn't have anything to do with this election.

- I agree, but didn't a separtist bring it up?CuriousGeorge
- yes indeed george, it seems the separatist benfall brought it up. get 'im!lodef
- Let's roll.CuriousGeorge

Soooooo is anyone else in a riding that's not worth voting in? I'm in Harper's own riding so that takes care of that.
How's the Toronto scene shaping up? there's a lot of talk about swinging votes for the conservatives in that area.
- go see my post about this:
http://www.qbn.com/t…Fanco - even "useles" votes count. i live in Gille Duceppe's riding but i still vote.Fanco
- * uselessFanco
- The Burb's are were the swing votes will take place. Most of "real Toronto" are Liberal. Who knows, that might change too.Andrew_D
- Franco: so true, I should vote still. I think I'll vote green for the statement.zarkonite
- I'd love to see Green have more of a stake, shake some shit up on Parliament Hill.Andrew_D

i strongly suggest everybody does this :
http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/…this type of tool might replace stupid polls that the media rely on so much. (polls are done via land line phones and only old people have those nowadays so that skews the results)
it also gives you an idea what your views are and which political party reflects that. regardless if you think Jack Layton looks like a used card salesman or if you don't like Ignatieff's eyebrows or Harper's helmet haircut.
- I like the cut of your jib, Fanco.Andrew_D
- yup i 2nd the compass, works well for a 5 minute fix... which is about all the time you have to capture average voters interesthorton
- Hmm... I'm closest to Liberal... furthest from NDP. Interesting.ETM
- I thought I was liberal... this thing told me I was NDPJulesvm

There's no such thing as a useless riding!!! Your vote counts!!! Let them know that Calgary isn't just Conservatives, this is how change starts.
- oh I know, we proudly elected a brown muslim man as mayor... just so happens that voter turn out was 20% bigger than usual, hmmmm.zarkonite

Rex has some good points.

It always feels like people are bringing out new stuff for universities right as I leave.
Anyway, how do people feel about the Liberals and their announcement about giving students some money to pay for their first semester?
- I feel he didn't tell us where the money was coming from.zarkonite
- It's supposed to come from the 40 billion budgeted for prisons and those new military jets.ETM
- Then spend away my friend!zarkonite
- The money is coming from a specific place that Harper has already dedicated spending to in budget.Jaline
- Can't remember what it was, but I know I didn't give a shit that we could be losing it.Jaline
- aldebaran0
^it's great idea. Education is far to expensive, and the price is only going up. When I finished school the millennium scholarship program (Liberal government) really helped me with the costs of my student loans.
- ETM0
^ From prisons and military jets funding.
Speaking of that, I do feel that we need to spend money on military from time to time, and would welcome the jets except for the model chosen. The F-35 is a great fighter, but it's single engine, making it fairly useless for arctic patrol, something we may need to do more of as time goes on.
- Crime is DOWN across the country and Harper is building SUPERMAX prisons!i_monk

Québec has it sweet compared to Toronto. The entire country hates us. Our own province hates us. The city is falling apart because Toronto accounts for something like $11 billion of the $18 billion Ontario contributes to the Have-Not fund. Now we have a lunatic rightwing mayor who wants to build a subway to nowhere in the suburbs and hides behind his big brother when the press comes calling, and McGuinty is definitely going to lose the provincial election so we'll have Hudak, a Mike Harris clone, fucking us over as well.
Old City of Toronto will be split between the Liberals and NDP in this election, as usual, but we're probably going to lose some of the "Ford Nation" ridings in the old City of York/East York/Scarb/Etobicoke to the Cons. Stephen Harper hates Toronto, but he'll probably promise them all SUVs if they vote for his puppets.
- The only thing about Toronto I hate are the Leafs. Rest is cool by me :)ETM

Actually, I''ll have you know that noone in Vancouver hates Toronto, we don't ever think about you unless it's to disparage your hockey team.
- Or to mock them for calling in the military to clear 10 cm of snow.Continuity

Well they don't have any seats... so it's hard to take them seriously. But at the same time 7% of Canadians voted for them. I'd like to see her there, in the last debate she had some great points.
In the end this is probably good for the Greens, gives them something to be noisy about.
- benfal990
Iam so tired of all this...
We're stuck with a total moron that will surely get his majority. He will continue to destroy the country for 4 years.Iam kinda disillusioned with politic and the rest. Corruption is every-fucking-where around us in every levels of our society. Money is corrupting everything and everyone.
WE FAILED MISERABLY.
- horton0
Sorry can't take half of you whiners seriously cause I remember the election with P.Martin and Liberals 'scandal' ... half of the canuck QBN'rs said they'd had enough and Harper had their vote.
you opened the door, bitches.
Paul Martin woulda served this country well. Angry voters took the Conservative bait and fcked it all up.
- don't make me dig up the old threads and start quoting.horton
- aldebaran0
I long for the days Chretien punching out protesters and Martin's balanced budgets.
- Jaline0
We've got John Baird ova' here in my area of town. And some no-names that I now have to research.
I long for the entertaining days of Chrétien. All the party "leaders" are uninteresting or unappealing as country leaders. Sure, you should care about the leader's policies compared to their personality, but if you do more digging you'll see that the Conservatives have done some predictable and unpleasant things (in my opinion anyway). I bet they will win again, unfortunately. Minority governments are a waste of time.
- benfal990
Canada will give Harper his majority, in 4 years Canada will regret badly. This our 'W. Bush era'.
Quote me in 4 years.
- benfal990
they announced that Elisabeth May isn't invited to the televised debates. Fuck 'em.
