Dell over charges on their upgrades, just buy a good base model, then upgrade parts on your own as you need. Get one with a good power supply also.

Also everything works on both these days... printers, scanners, keyboards, mouse, external HD etc etc... they all works on OSX and Windows. The line has never been that thin between Mac and PC.

That spending the same on a apple vs a pc, you will get much more performance for your money on a pc.
If you want to compare performance on the same hardware with windows 7 vs OSX, you may slightly get (and probably will) better performance from the OSX machine.
Its unix based, which apparently is great. But the price difference between real life systems is what makes pcs much more powerful per pound / dollar than apple computers.
Buy a pc, put hackintosh on it -

No question with PC you get the latest and best hardware at good prices. Especially building your own. Sure you will have to do a little thinking and find what configurations work best at what price for your budget. If windows 7 isnt to you're taste, there are plenty of mac themes out there for windows 7, if they dont satisfy, get max osx installed on it!

i used to build super fast pc's, way cheaper, swore by them, then got a job using a mac pro, sold my pcs and never looked back. osx is just more reliable. to me anyway.
