what are you coming from?

if you think about it like this.. 85K is equal to almost the same thing as 119K... meaning after taxes, you will bring home relatively the same amount.. the bring home number changes at $145k.. this is when you dont see the taxes getting taken out.. everything under 145k to 119k has a higher tax bracket on it, and after taxes is almost same as 85k-119k..
but always the more you get the better.. or worse.. depending..

" if you think about it like this.. 85K is equal to almost the same thing as 119K... meaning after taxes, you will bring home relatively the same amount.. "
what the fuck? no. you get taxed only according to the income you receive in each threshold.
so if you earn $130k and the tax bracket changes at $119k, $119k of your income gets taxed at the lower %, and the rest ($21k) gets taxed at the higher %.
- that's what I thoughtrandommail
- HA. No. all of your 130k income is taxed at the higher %.VikingKingEleven
- Yep.. you are taxed % on full amount.. it's a disaster.. when I passed $120k a year it started feeling pretty much like a robbery.Boz
- a robbery.Boz
- believe me i know what i am talking about.. i am in that higher tax bracket.epilI

That's a good offer if you're just a designer.
In L.A. I'd normally offer based on previous salary history and experience. Generally the range I saw would be like this.
Jr. Designer
35-40kDesigner
45-55kSr. Designer
60-90kAd + Executive Bonus Plan
95-105kSr. Ad + Executive Bonus Plan
110-120kCD
120-150 + Executive Bonus Plan

my point being you equate 85k with a living salary on newyork. i wonder what you call living
– deathboy5/19
the more money you think you should make the more likely you vote democratic for hand out for those people living below you
– deathboy6/19
below you
– deathboy7/19

– deathboy8/19

– deathboy9/19
there is no wage scale but those between you...ETM - oh and a bit late you might not see it ETM. but figure a response to your question is neededdeathboy
- i see a growing trend in how spoiled american culture is. the i paid my dues in college/years in work, that there is entitlement that is disconnecteddeathboy
- a sense of entitlement disconnected from worth based on such time/schooldeathboy
- how one values there worth vs how another views there worth. i see this strongly amongst self-proclaimed liberalsdeathboy
- especially in sense of healthcare and such. i purely asked as a large generalization to see if my first impression is correct. and from there narrow down correlates on a single question is quite irrelevant but could leaddeathboy
- correct and from there to see if i can narrow down my generalization to get a better grip on where the person is coming fromdeathboy
- coming from. that was my intent. tryign to simplify it in these text boxes.deathboy
- and likely i would also further question what cost of living means in comparison to the many workign for less.deathboy
- and work it back to the fact that worth is onoy relative between employee/employer and has no merit on a larger scaledeathboy
- so ETM if you see this, that was my reasoning behind itdeathboy

Depends on the skills they are hiring you for. Average salary for print vs web designer can vary quite a bit.

^
why would they pay you 100k, when national average is like 50k.- ( talking in general )akrokdesign
- cause you're great and want to make a living. yes. but, they don't give a shit. (8 of 10)akrokdesign

I would say for a graphic designer that's in line. Note he didn't say Senior Designer, Art Director, ACD, CD, etc meaning this is likely not a position that oversees designers, and the position description will likely reflect this.
