Jobs is the pot calling the kettle black. Apple and its products are no more open or non-proprietary than Adobe's.
Have some more crack, Steve.

If there is anyone here that was thinking in believing Apple is all for "open" as someone posted above..

yeah, he's doing that for us,
or maybe he just want to keep his share of the pie,

Whether or not you agree about Android’s future, one thing that we can all agree on is that the mobile industry is where you want to be. It is already a multi billion dollar industry that shows no signs of slowing down.

There is no doubt that flash can make the most captivating, creative and unique sites out there. The beauty of flash is the possibility of creating a site any way imaginable, with no limits. I love the fact that your creativity is not limited to the structure and convention of standard browser technology. In this sense I am a bit scared to believe that it is not a relevant technology anymore.
However there is no doubt that it is not made for mobile, touch-based devices.

The real passé way of doing things is to insist on selling hardware and software together.

Im sorry but if your OS crashes because of a firefox plugin, maybe you shouldnt be blaming the plugin.
- anyway pretty sure in this case is the plugin faultspraycan
- the OS didn't crash, Safari did, and now they run the plug-in sandboxed so if it crashes Safari keeps runningernexbcn
- and yes, the reason #1 was Flash Playerernexbcn
- agreed...
(with err, of course)Meeklo - My Macs used to have to force quit all the time. I don't miss that.Mimio
- I'm not saying that the flash plugin isnt shitty. It is. I just think its a lame excuse to say your OS crashes were due to flash. My shit has crashed when i load QBNs animated gif of the day.err

adobe being a closed system is bullshit. anyone can use it. seems to me the app store, with its app approval process, is very closed, and much more closed in comparison. if you dont htink so, jailbreak your iphone and see how many more great apps there are that didn't make it. there was a video app for the first gen.
- I've got that video app.section_014

second, how is flash a security risk? who the hell who make an online store in flash? whos hacking into computers using flash. that one seems weird too.
- instrmntl0
memory leaks and overall usage i can understand. but whats funny is, everyone has to scale back their websites because we now use portable devices that have the processing speeds of a 2002 computer.

no rollovers on touch.......jesus. that's reaching.

ok, done with the article. its funny that jobs ends with saying flash is a past technology, because his mobile devices are using past technology. its up to flash developers to make flash more relevant and push what and is being done and how.
mobile devices are now finally getting internet. so.......technically they are at 1998. then have a lot of catching up to do as far as performance. jobs cant expect the entire web community to go backwards because he mobile devices aren't cutting it.
this is apple positioning itself, and its apps, as the main platform for a subscription based internet. it's no coincidence that the new york times is stopping their free news this year and going subscription based next year. with netflix etc, companies started to realize that the subscription based model is ideal. no one owns anything, and they constantly have pay.

That's trying to kill 10 birds with 1 stone.

Does he mean 'open' like you can play AAC files on other mp3 players?
