My take on iPad.

I am aware that a lot of people are disappointed by the iPad. We all expected to see a tablet version of the iMac not the iPod however I believe that Apple has created a perfect device and I will explain why.
1. eBook reader. (Kindle DX runs for $489) for $10 more you have a basic version of the iPad.
2. Digital picture frames. (All newer picture frames can do slide shows, music etc.) Here is a new Kodak frame that runs for $999.
http://store.kodak.com/store/ekc…iPad has access to all your photos and music and can do this much better. Plus it's almost half the price.
3. Browsing the web casually. Imagine having this thing next to you while you watch tv. You can quickly check your gmail, nyt, and whatever else it is you do. I know it's missing flash but it's not a deal breaker.
There are many more examples here that I can keep bringing up, but my point is that this device will sell like potato chips.
To all the peeps bitching about no camera I would say this. I have a webcam on my MacBook pro and in the last year I might have used it 2-3 times. I also can't imagine anyone walking around with this to take pictures, or making phone calls. LOLZ

i should start an "official" iPad thread. Or maybe an iPad of the day thread.

so wait, why do I want this thing when I can do any of the above mentioned on something I already own. pretty sure I'd get tired of having to hold the damn thing up all the time when a laptop sits upright just fine.
sure, it's cool enough because you can touch it, but I really don't see the innovation put to good use here.

that Kodak Picture Frame is fucking nuts, 999 dollars for that?
- lowimpakt0
anyone that pays 999 for a digital photo frame is as retarded as anyone that buys a iPad.

@cotton Wait for devs to develop some cool apps.

It's not about what you own. It's what you consider owning. Imagine you want a kindle and a picture frame. You would be out $1,000. Compare that to this. Add developer support and in a year or so you will have apps on this that you never thought were possible.
- I actually agree with you, people complaining about iPad weren't going to buy it anywayernexbcn

what if i wanted to glance up and see my family as i am reminded of them while reading a heatwarming story? do i have to close my story, tab to my family folder, searching tags "christmas 2008 grandma" after i pressed some other button or interface to bring up the keyboard?
wow, kinda took all the romance out of the story, the photo and even the glance somehow...

"Add developer support and in a year or so you will have apps on this that you never thought were possible."
