I saw my ex twice after she dumped over the phone. We were together for four years. I thought it was a bit bogus for doing that.
Then she gave me the "we can be friends if you want" cliche and that's when my bullshit radar went off. That was a bit awkward for me and disingenuous at best. We don't talk anymore and I suspected someone else was trying to put their foot in the door.

I only dislike a couple of ex's, however I do not talk to any of them unless I cannot avoid it. It's hard to look at someone you once loved and made love to, and be reminded that it is no longer. Even if you are with someone it is still tough.
I do care about my ex's and wish them happiness and well being but I do not want to be part of their lives anymore.

You'll think you can be friends at first (although these feelings will differ depending on who dumped who) but it will never work out long term.
Just get them out of you life... either they don't want to be with you or you don't want to be with them – why stay as friends? Seems harsh but life is too short. It didn't work out, deal with it.

pretty much with all of them, I mean, I'm sure it would be pleasant if I was to run into one of them, but seeing as that I've been living in another continent for the past 4 years and then prior, I was in an 8-year long relationship/marriage, I'm not sure I'd even remember what any of them looked like, let alone what their names were..

Was with one for 7 years, didn't talk to her for like 10 years after that then one day she popped up in my Facebook all married and with children. we talk now and then, I feel better about it than I did.

a few years ago we did for a bit, then after hooking up lost touch one summer, i played an april fools on my mates telling them she was pregnant, 2 weeks later i got a myspace message that she was. (luckily not mine it was conceived at christmas)
never again have i tempted fate in such a way.

In good terms, but not staying in touch for years with some. Not seeking contact with them. It is good to meet a year after the breakup though - it can take away tension showing there wasn't any anymore. Kind of like Dobs said.

I'm completely fine with being friends with the other person, but it's usually because they liked me more than I liked then. So, naturally, they cannot stand the whole "let's be friends" idea, whereas I could take it or leave it.
