Good terms yes. Friends? No. I can't possibly shake the idea that we bumped uglies all the time, and now we "can't". So I keep my distance.

If you're more emotionally involved in the whole relationship and break-up, then being friends is likely not a good idea. Couples who can (individually) separate those emotions and/or are not as emotional can usually be friends or acquaintances after a while.
