"Im only giving as good as im getting?"
This is your problem: You are throwing punches.
We are a crowd of bemused onlookers.

This guy is like the opposite of another youngster here, Digdre,
Who is always taking advice and asking a lot of questions how to improve his work. You are just here to post your stuff and
we should just say: 'yeah mate, great fooking work,
you are the Mozart of graphic design'.
If not so, you give this impression...
- pascii0
btw, i will come up with my portfolio/website in some weeks. i cun't wait to get wolfbagged!

i post my work because i believe there are some awesome designers on here, and i take in the advice and listen to the people that do actually help but they seem to be few and far between

My two cents:
The best way to learn design is by doing it, but there are also plenty of great books out there and education will speed up the process. If you didn't do a degree I would suggest reading up on design history, typography, even art history.
The internet is not a good place, in general, for design education.Part of being a good designer is having the confidence and conviction of your ideas and their visual manifestations.
Always posting everything you do on this board implies a lack on confidence. You should always be able to back up your ideas with solid reasoning, and not post-rationalised thinking: The idea should dictate your visual solutionPosting work on QBN is good for gauging people's opinions on things like kerning ie the details that need cleaning up, or even how people interpret the concept, but this place is no place to start and develop a project. You should be doing that based on your own knowledge and experience, and if you don't have that, then as I suggest – get reading.
- that's it. never show the beginning to somebodypascii
- see i always listen to what you say because its good solid advice********

If you have a look at Brockmanns books, he will teach you the importance of having well proportioned margins, and how many words should be put on a line to make the text read well and look good.
But we could have all told you that without all this nonsense had you been a bit more humble and open to criticism.
- We did this already in other threads from him...tank02
- Sorry, I only visit occasionally and have not yet had the pleasure! ;)DavidNewton

just wondering about the black stock letterhead..
umm.. you know printers DONT print in white? or that maxing out a contract print out in black ink might not be the best thing for your client to invest in :)
- neue75_bold0
I don't like it.. seems pretty run of the mill and like I've seen it a million times but then not even pulling it off, you should invest in either some books on the basics of design or go to school.. seeing as you have yet to post anything that demonstrates either –
a. a good idea
b. something that's visually appealing
c. a combination of a & b

thank you elpaso, ok i will descide againist that option

On a more personal level, as advice for posting here.... if someone makes a comment in one thread that you begrudge, don't carry that grudge over from that thread to another and allow it to taint your perception of what's being said elsewhere. That is by far the easiest mistake to make here on QBN I think. You start to think "Oh, so-and-so seems to dislike me... I'm not going to let him/her make a fool of me in public so I'll hit back next time and stand my ground". You put yourself under seige like that.
Take every comment at face value and in context, and remember.... its only words on a computer screen.
And stop with the diagonals already. Its like, SOOOO 2003.
- And never forget: Everybody Hates You.
j/kSpookytim - further to that, most people seem to be pretty harsh to each other on here, but it is almost always in jest.********
- haha, that doesn't make sense after your note tim.********

Can I ask if you have been to art school or done an art or design degree? I only ask because one of the great skills you learn very quickly at art school is how to take criticism well and not see it as a personal insult but constructive advice

ok fair comment spooky tim
