As GreedoLives noted, customer service in general sucks.

MrD - that's hilarious that he said Apple wasn't around 20 years ago. What a jackass!
We had Apples in my classroom in 1983 around the time I was in second grade.

(Oct 24 07, 08:23)so basically, to the kid who was behind the counter, apple only existed few years ago
when HE BOUGHT his first.
- MrD0
I hate it when they WONT even talk to you when you dont have apple care
they just either walk away, hangs up or says, you gotta purchase extra support
i mean, its really tough when your computer is fried and trying to get out of it..

As most of you know I plan on getting a Macbook Pro within the next month or so, but I will still use my PC, just will add Windows XP and keep it for testing sites or whatever. I think I use some recording software that might not be for Macs.

yes, along with crappy customer service nowadays comes the extended warranty thing. Sucks.

I had a 2ci in highschool. it cost 5k and it was a piece of shit. I could barely play sim city on it. Every mac I've used professionally was a piece if shit and would give the beach ball of death. I've had 4 ipods and the ones with moving parts broke prematurely. fuck apple.

I've been a PC user for years, but got a macBook last year what impresses me the most is the simplicity of use over the PC, perfect example:
Last night I had to scan a couple of sheets for my dad, so I dug out the scanner and plugged it back into the PC (windows 2000) all in all it took 3 restarts until photoshop was able to recognise the scanner and the TWAIN library had everything it needed. Quite apart from the continual restarts when you connect anything new, the time it takes to restart a windows box is jsut too long.
I agree with jox, all computers are shit in certain aspects, but I am more impressed / less distressed by macs. I have bought my last PC.

Exactly. The simplicity and operating system keep me from actually purchasing a PC again.

I have had
1 mac plus
1 mac LC
2 imacs
1 emac
1 powerbook G4
1 mac mini
2 ipodsNever had a hardware failure on any of them in fact my 7 year old powerbook still rocks a long and the battery still gets a hour or so of life.
Not saying they dont break but I have had a good run.
Also have had about 3 dells and still have a dell core duo and none of these have had hardware failures but I only keep them for a year or so.

the new apple keyboard, you need to install driver for it.
also, it doesnt work all the time when you plug it in. either you gotta reboot or unplug / replug again and again..

- emecks0
didn't know that MrD, but at least it restarts pretty quickly, no?
It fucked me off beyond belief last night, I mean the software for the scanner was ALL already installed, all I had done was unpluggegd it (USB "plug&play" supposedly) for space reasons, plugged it back in after a few months and my 6 year old P4 PC threw a tantrum about "no TWAIN" and fuck knows what all..

sort of. one of the issues that i find with preinstalled drivers is that it does not always work
say for my HP scanner, there is no preinstalled driver. so I had to install a 200mb shit fuck software from HP which is fuckn shit

Gee, I really love the Apple products I own. They work really well. I wish I had money to buy more of them, actually.
The local Apple store is really nice, too. There's a little cutie there who even flirts with me, so they'll have my business forever.

Apparently drivers in Leopard are automatically updated. That's one of the my biggest peeves with Tiger and Macs in general. The printing setup sucks. A lot. Almost as much as setting up networks and printers on a PC does.

Every studio gig/magazine job/design job I've ever had have all given me Macs to work on...
... for the most part i had no issues... but when I did... you're at the mercy of Apple and their lil 'geniuses'... who for the most part are a joke... 'reinstall or... please leave the machine here... that'll be $X.xx)... HORSESHIT!!!
And yes... if someone started writing viruses for Mac machines... there'd be a mad outcry from the fanboy fringe...
...but alas... given that fact that LESS THAN 4% of the world is on a Mac (http://www.w3schools.com/browse... I'd say fanboys need not fret.I will always have a PC @ home... I can gut it, add to it... install/uninstall/rebuild/update w/out the help of some 'genius'...
the 'simplicity' which many call out as being 'Mac'... becomes exceptionally 'complicated' when it comes to my wallet and ability to service/upgrade myself. ;)
(i know things have gotten easier in the upgrade/DIY side of MAC... but even after that - I'm still hung up on the cost).
