- Always looking for excuses to "smash American capitalism".NBQ00
- The thing I hate most about riots is the senseless destruction of Manufactured Stuff. It's probs the Calvinist in me (oo-er) but I loathe seeing such waste.Nairn

I hear Paris is a great place to visit at the moment as a tourist.
lol
- If i had spare cash I'd go.mugwart
- what about business travel?Fax_Benson
- NBQ007
- quite normal for europe in times of protestsuan
- They look strong enoughhelloeatbreathedrive
- that's someones job, someones business and someones xmas ruined.shapesalad
- xmas is ruined because some rich cunt didn't get another bvlgari watch?Milan
- Well as a designer, imagine you can't work, because you need to board up your iMac as some people in yellow vests are marching on your desk.shapesalad
- ^ well as a person with a working class background who had to start working in a factory at 14 to help my parents...oey
- ...and myself, someone who worked all the way until finished my second design degree I still prefer the people over my mac.oey
- and the right to protest. and if a protest turns violent, well isn't it a form of violence how the elites rule the world? I'm not saying violence will solve itoey
- but it can happen. and these brands, well most can actually go fuck themselves.oey
- besides, it doesn't seem they will quit business at all. so what's the issue, what's your point, where do you stand, which side are you taking, etc...oey
- i didn't mean "you" particularly.oey
- Paris est mortutopian
- i bet oey's got QBN stickers on his guillotine.hotroddy
- boohoo, oey. I was washing dishes at 12 and my dad didn't own a pair of shoes until he was 18. being WC doesn't entitle one to be a cuntGnash
- Looting isn't a prerequisite when protesting. (and they're not just targeting lux brands)Gnash
- "...and if a protest turns violent, well isn't it a form of violence how the elites rule the world?" So you get to smash stuff because "elites"?cannonball1978
- hey Gnash, i didn't defend anyone being a cunt.oey
- besides I was not criticizing anyone to use wood planks either defending looting.oey
- I was not defending or justifying violence. I wrote "I'm not saying violence will solve it". I think some people read with filter glasses, like you know...oey
- stereotyping :-)oey
- my Dad went to work in a factory when he was 12 and had to walk 15km along woods barefoot...I can't imagine myself in such a situation.oey
- one time I was in a demo throwing pavement stones in at the police vans with reinforcements when i was 15oey
- when i looked to my side my father was right there too...that was weird.oey
- anyway...yes, I had t a guillotine but Tatcher is dead already so I sold mine to Morrisseyoey
- Dynamite will doi_was
- somehow you get to smash stuff because of elites yes...I wonder how this is connected...I mean social injustice, privilegeoey
- where do the elites become their money, how does capitalism works, which are the consequences?oey
- how does exploration work...why do people have to work 100 hours a week to feed their children and put them to schooloey
- or you believe that people are rich and that's it? and other people are poor because you know it's how things are?oey
- who profits from exploitation? poor designers that can't work at Saturdays cause of the yellow vests...oey
- buuuuuu!....oey
- lets organize a demonstration in favor of the designers and hopefully we don't smash windows. okay, designers that work on apple can smash windows.oey
- @ Gnash sorry to hear that you had to go wash dishes at 12...must have been hard for you.oey
- all those dishes piling up for 12 years waiting for you ;-)oey
- @ i_was: now we're talking!oey
- I best it's the an tifaoey
- to make something else clear, I don't even know if I defend the yellow vest protest at all. I see lots of confusion. and nationalism and populism in the mixoey
- I shouldn't have written so much, it's not even worth it. probably will be taken too serious and misinterpreted. oh fuck it!oey
- If you're a designer, do you really believe smashing other peoples stuff solves your pain? Do you really believe there is some virtue or valu in your suffering?cannonball1978
- Sorry, why didn't people in the 50s have shoes??Nairn
- ^ tiny village, poor farmers. first shoes when he left the country and came to canadaGnash
- All because they wanted to raise gas taxes to take a step in curbing green house emissions???wagshaft
- uan1
- NBQ000
This city can't catch a break. First the gas leak explosion earlier and again yellow vests protests seems like every few days.
Seems not the best place to visit or live in at the moment.

Le Acción - But really the French people are powerless, they just stand around and smoke cigarettes...

The cathedral was undergoing a 6M+ Euro renovation. Rumors on the web are it may have been caused by construction workers smoking.
Not sure if that is really the cause but if it is how fucked up is that?
So much history destroyed.
- highly unlikely, c'monKrassy
- Highly unlikely? The French are born with a cigarette in one hand and coffee on the other. Very likely.ArmandoEstrada
- nope.Krassy
- electrical fail is what they expect.uan
- _niko-6
as shitty as this is, I hope they don't rebuild it. 6m just for renos never mind what it would cost to rebuild from scratch.
Leave it as a legacy of France's past and build something progressive and helpful for the future.
- A McDonald'sNBQ00
- Progressive...OBBTKN
- honestly, leave it a s a relic of the past. they shouldn't rebuild this any more than Rome should rebuild the colosseum or Athens the Parthenon._niko
- Whaou _niko. Are u for real ?
Highest level of stupidity I've seen since the beginning of the year. I know what I'm talking about, I read the internet daily.gonzalle - really? is the notre dame cathedral more historically significant than the colosseum or the parthenon? would you spend $1bn to restore it? could that money be_niko
- ...used for something better? explain yourself otherwise you're the one that sounds like an idiot._niko
- and if you bring religion into this, i've got nothing more to say to you._niko
- You must be very high.gonzalle
- not high enough :)_niko
- they build progressive stuff all time in paris:) they will rebuild, it's classified a world monument so diff. world monument preservation fonds will pay for it.uan
- world monument preservation funds?monospaced
- I'd rather the money went to schools, technology, science, medicine, the arts etc than an ancient relic but that's just me :)_niko
- turns out they exist!monospaced
- lol, thought he was making that up too!_niko
- with that logic let's stop all the excavations, stop maintenance on everything that's older than 100 y.o including eiffel, parthenon and pyramidsBeeswax
- preservations are one thing, returning them to their former glory is another. like i said if they can salvage some or most of it fine, leave it as it is_niko
- and it says a lot about the state of the world in 2019 when this is getting more press coverage and is more significan than the first image of a black hole lol._niko
- Bennn0
People will talk about this as The great fire of 2019 in 200 years.
- Did Nostradamus predict this fire?NBQ00
- #Bennnsplanation of the dayKrassy
- few people outside of Paris will care next week. I'd venture to guess most people don't care now.imbecile
- @imbecile ah, c'mon! really? this place has so much meaning to millions of people all over the world!Krassy
- yeah man, its not an ordinary monumentBennn
- even if the most historically significant monument in France but if its gone, will it really matter? enough for people to be bummed about it in 200 yrs?_niko
- the great fire? there are so many more the last year or so that were much biggermonospaced
- Aside from news consuming public, no one will know. The Catholic religion is seen as hypocritical & people like to watch bad things happen to child molesters.imbecile
- @_niko it will be rebuilt and continue to hold meaning to people far beyond 200 years from now.Krassy
- what meaning exactly? as a place to worship imaginary sky gods? or a place to prop up the world's biggest con artists?_niko
- or as imbecile said child molesters._niko
- sorry no disrespect meant, it was a wonder or architecture, and sad to see it go, but my point is what to do moving forward._niko
- uneducated peasants. it's an architectural masterpiece, every generation added something to it and it's the symbol of Gothic architecture.sted
- not to mention it's sacred significance.sted
- @_niko, it's honestly difficult to even beging to respond to what you wrote, man. Shows more than ignorance, unfortunately.Krassy
- fair enough krassy, just because it doesn't hold any meaning for me personally doesn't mean it's not significant for millions. But i still don't agree rebuildin_niko
- It'll re-open as a WetherspoonsPhanLo
- Yeah come to think of it, more than likely, I take everything back, save the cathedral! Lol_niko
- that cathedral represents an organization that intentionally protects adults who abuse children. let it burn.imbecile
- that cathedral represents the hard work and collaboration of architects, masons
sculptors, painters, glass craftsmen, carpenterssted - it will be redesigned in autocad and 3d printed.sted
- Name some of the architects. I’ll name a bunch of abusers.imbecile
- We can make it a game.imbecile

- "flying water tankers"NBQ00
- timelinenb
- Yeah sending 6t of water on a fragilised wood structure in an urban area is very logicBennn
- multilevel structure with lots of covered spaces, what also burns at a much higher temperature than a bushfire.sted
- at least he didn't imply they should have prevented it by sweeping moremonospaced
- God always hated that church.utopian
- It's the French 911robotron3k
- No Robo, u moron. Its another careless contractor during renovations as always.tank02
- robo, you don't seriously believe it was some muslim terrorist who did this?NBQ00
- he is trying to say is that for the french people this event is like 911 to you in the USsted
- +wassted
- yeah, we get it sted ... he's trying to say it is a terrorist attackmonospaced
- :((( like 30 mins ago I was thinking about how to explain imbecile few posts bellow, why nobody will forget this,my first idea was 911, quickly changed my mindsted
- because it's a stupid idea to start this conversation about terrorism.sted
- yeah, to the USA, 911 is purely terrorism, not just a great lossmonospaced
- The only reason I said 911 is because I also watched the towers burn all day long from Brooklyn and it reminded me of the same scene.robotron3k
- I wonder if Trump would ever say anything like this about black churches that have been set on fire in the south.fooler
- first he thought- let´s build a wall around the fire , but then came this great idea with the flying water tankers,..you all learn that at trump univsersity?neverscared
- Trump carefully watched the Muslims from Eiffel Tower cheer and dance as the church burned down...true story.utopian
- Damn you Elon! I told you quit talking out your ass on twitter in hopes to confuse bots to boost stock prices!deathboy
