what do you do about it then?
i would suggest you get involved with politics at the local level at the district representatives office. do you even know who your district representative is? have you ever given your time to a candidates political campaign as part of their staff? become an advisor or part of the advisors staff. write a congressman. write your governor.
i'd like to know what you've done, other than i think you said you wrote your governor once, but never said anything about him writing back.

Thus far, the clash has only produced Slave and Master in opposition. But Hegel intends to show how this relationship transforms its two terms. In the first instance the slave is the Other to the master, the Self. The slave makes himself the corporeal body of the master's will - 'your wish is my command'. However, the relationship is unsatisfactory for the master. He has domination over the slave. What he wanted, though, was honour, or recognition of his mastery. The love owed him by his slaves will never satisfy him, because it is not freely given. Furthermore, the master, having made himself master through action has become lazy. Superficially it appears that he calls the shots. But already the slaves are, without realising it, the active parties. Their labour creates all the possibilities available to the court. If they would but realise the fact that they make everything happen, they would shake off the mantle of slave. Then they would cease merely to be the Other, and attain the character of Selves.

(Jul 20 06, 08:04)1) you've never talked about them
2) you didn't answer my question

registering people to vote at political rallies.
yes I know who every person is in every branch of government from the bottom up.
so the fact that I have never talked about them gives you license to assume that I don't do anything about it?
You still support this war, don't you? You think it was and still is a good idea?
If you do, you are proving my point.

Remember, people, that the military practically BEGGED for more troops after the first 7 months. Rumsfield and Cheney igonored them. They just extended the tours of our reserves...doubling and tripling their tours.

People think the US is crazy? OK maybe we kill innocent civilians sometimes but at least we don't kill them for wearing shorts or not having facial hair. Crap not letting gays marry seems pretty tame compared to in Iraq they just kill 'em.

(Jul 20 06, 08:07)I think you're proving your own point here mrdobolina. Why you shouldn't assume.
yes I know who every person is in every branch of government from the bottom up.
and I find that extremely hard to believe.

You never need an argument against the use of violence, you need an argument for it.

Sadaam WAS way better.
10s of thousdands gone missing ever year presumed dead and burried in the known mass graves.
Anyone suspected of being against Sadaam was killed, their family too. This was as easy as one man saying to another he thought that person didn't agree with Sadaam, next thing you know Sadaams Royal Guard was kicking down their door and slaughtering them in the night.
Gassing his own people.
Uday and Qusay being known to rape and torture any woman they pleased, and killing the husband of the woman if he didn't allow it.
How many palaces did they have while their people starved?
I could go on for days.
Does being that blind by hatred for the American government hurt mrdobolina? I'm seriously asking. It has to hurt being that blind with hate.
