Arrives? *Cough
I was out @ M$ in Seattle working on Vista as an intern back in 2003, and it still isn't done!!! LOL. What a joke. For all you pc people thinking today it was released, i feel for you.
The interface is far superior to anything M$ has ever put out in the past, but as always, totally inspired/ripped from other innovators. Sad, but true. Some things never change after all. DOH

I love the new Maximize button glyph it makes alot more sense then the classic one since Windows dont really have a titlebar anymore ... plus the Exit glyph is good to before they were going more of a x that looks like on a error icon which is stupid. but now its all good wish they added a square aligned to the right glyph on a button to say Minimize to Tray for stuff like messenger

the rollovers are nice, kinda 1997, but nice.

it doesn't look bad, but it's kind of sad that Microsoft can't invent a single useful thing, which is kind of strange considering all the money they have.
itunes -> wmp with urge store
spotlight -> new search function
iphoto -> iphoto like viewing
dashboard widgets -> microsfot gadgets!
expose -> 3d switch thingieI mean come on, they basically copied every feature of Mac OS X in some way.
The problem is that some of their design stuff is just useless. The glass thing just doesn't work for me and their expose like 3d switching feature also doesn't look very useful.

LOL Apple copies just as much...
dashboard = remember that guy who said apple ripped him...
iphoto = photo/picture applications that have existed since day one... picture folder contained many of the same functions but rather then using an app it did it through the folder window which was bad since more features added=less space in the Windows Explorer for explorer functions.spotlight=just a tag searh/finder helps find things better WinFS is on its way right after Vista...
Expose = Mac taking features from Linux like always...am i suppose to say Safari = IE?
no one wants to buy cds anymore unless cd sleeve is designed by TDR or good designers... so a mp3 (file) store only makes sense does iTunes store = Napster but not for free? YES you have no case..

maybe we should go back to DOS look. you know, the retro style...

I have a mac, but I use MS as well. The day MS can write an OS/browser that doesn't explode when exposed to the internet, I'll buy it. Until then, it's MS at work, and mac for everything else.

(Jan 5 06, 11:31)the only reason mac os dosnt have as many reports about holes etc is that it dosnt have as big as a following as windows does this only makes Windows stronger from a security perspective its like they are getting free help to see whats wrong with the OS.
- HelloWorld0
no more patches in Vista just updates even when installing vista again it looks for those updates first...
- mg330
I but there are plenty of people who will STILL be using Windows 2000 as we celebrate New Years Eve 2009.

Makes it stronger? That's like saying getting shot one a week is good for your health.
Quality depends on craftmanship and failure rate. The more pieces you have, the higher the failure rate goes. Windows is filled with small library files that easily get lost, and drive the OS haywire. Good craftsmanship can alleviate the failure rate problem (which is why some cars last longer than others even though most cars share comparable designs), but MS hasn't proven to be good craftsmen, either. In shot, they just gotta step it up, and quit blaming the world at large for their security problems.

LOL like i said no patches in win vista just component updates from what i read... but still my point makes sense
Apple does beta testing and does have holes aswell just not many cause they dont have exploit hunters who are devoted to it.... like windows does... these people are making windows better by telling MS what is wrong ... every OS has the same problems MS has more and more frequent cause its used by more people and most people who look for these holes hate windows or are trying to find new ways to send u worms/viruses with ads....

HelloWorld, I'm not going to repost your whole argument against RobotGunslinger about Vista being a rip of OSX but what I am going to tell you is.....at least OSX isn't a rip of a rip of a rip.....like ALL Windows....how sad is that? Windows can't even rip the original peeps, they can't even get that right. AND, you can't come to the table talking about Safari....WE ALL KNOW THAT THERE WERE 400000 OTHER BROWSERS BEFORE SAFARI....Apple just wanted their own.....you're not going to find any Mac nerds yelling back that Safari was the first browser ever created....unless they are f-ing retarded....BUT, I will say that Safari, although still an infant browser, has come a LONG LONG way a lot faster than IE....IE still sucks and how long has it been out???
Look, whatever, you all go buy your Windows OS and enjoy your daily crashes, yearly system rebuilds and all of the viruses....I'll stick with my computer that works 99% without a crash or reboot.
I work on both a PC and a Mac.....in one week I have more crashes on my PC than I have in 1 year on my Mac......my PC is brand new, my Mac is 4 years old.....both running the same exact prog's. Thats all the case study bullshit I need.
Whoever said that they stopped using Mac's in '94.....good, I agree with that decision.....Apple was f-ing itself in the A in the 90s which is why Jobs came back in.....you should give'em a shot again.

Mac does have security holes. But if there were any worth exploiting, someone would do so. I mean, the Army and DoD switched to OSX server to run their websites cause windows was getting hacked left and right...
and for critical data, DoD uses Unix, Solaris, or proprietary systems. There are holes in all of these too, but you don't hear about the DoD suffering from the "I love you" virus..."
Again, MS just needs to work a little harder. They have the money. I know they can do it...
