It's funny tho how they are trying to mix genres for the sake of cross-selling... case in point Lincoln Park n Jay Z. Remember Aerosmith and RunDMC? Or the Judgement Night OST?
If they ever try to mix emo and rap it will be a fuggin happy disaster.

hehe, i grew up w/ run dmc. anyways, yeah i do know the judgement night OST, great record and indeed nothing new, but i didn't get the impression linkin prak and jay-z where selling it as something new.

when you think of emo, you should think of hipsters:

nice link jevad, now i know that there's also screamo to make it more less complicated.

umm..I don't think Blink 182 (not their past music, at least) and Green Day are emo. Some examples I have concocted:
Bright Eyes, Weezer, Dashboard Confessional, Taking Back Sunday, Death Cab, Modest Mouse.
"Punk music on estrogen. Often acoustic guitar with soft, high male vocals that dwell exessively on the singer's feelings, especially melancholy remembrances of past relationships/mistakes in life. A form of music that diverged from punk in the '80s, the name "emo" is derived from the emotive style of the lyrics and music. This genre has lately been marketed heavily by the music industry to teenagers with bands such as Dashboard Confessional and Taking Back Sunday, and has seen much commercial and mainstream success. The music has also spawned a subculture which conforms to certain conventions in dress such as tight sweatshirts, tight band T-shirts and horn-rim glasses. Adherents profess to exessively melancholy temperments. Males that adhere to the emo subculture are sometimes confused with metrosexuals; indeed the line between the two is somwhat blurred, though both groups claim to be intouch with their emotional side. The ephemeral and hackneyed nature of emo songwriting suggests that its audience will be restricted largely to teenagers. the genre suffers from a lack of credibility outside the aforementioned demographic group, much like current Nu Metal bands."

emo = crapo

some of it is good, but usually the entire band sucks. except maybe Weezer.
- rabattski0
weezer is emo?
fuck it, i never understood it, i tried understanding it but i will never understand it. i have no fucking clue what emo is. really.
- Jaline0
read my definition (my first post in this thread, which is about 4 posts away from this reply) and there are examples of emo.
- rabattski0
i read it and i totally don't understand it jeline. i can file neil young as emo when i use that defenition. roughly. anyways, emo is just rock. period.
- Jaline0
yeah, you don't have to have them in separate categories. it's just helpful to know.
- SteveJobs0
emo is just a lifestyle like goth. it has its own music, scene, and telltale wardrobe signs. it's just not as distinguishable as goth.
an emo kid might listen to deathcab, write poetry at the coffee shop, shop for the latest emo trend styles at the local thrift store or urban outfitters, and carry around this pathetic, misunderstood look along with his other depressed emo friends he met on myspace.
- Jaline0
they tend to wear clothes that fit 'just tight enough so that they don't look extremely tight', right?

i definitely don't think Weezer is Emo. They've been producing kick ass music since the term "emo" was ever quoted!
EMO = Diet Punk w/ a twist of lemon

Yeah whats this about Husker Du, minor threat, 7 seconds?
- Jaline0
I definitely think Weezer SPAWNED the term emo.
