newstoday is harsh and no bullshit...sometimes people get offended easily and threads like this happen...
ya it is intimidating and sucks to have your work torn down...but save a few voices that seems to be how it goes here...
it would be nice if everyone gave thoughtfully worded, constructive criticism but that doesnt happen...
so...take the bad with the good...use the advice that was given...and make your next design better...

i just read EVERY post... and I want to dry-hump everyone's leg.
Each person only get's one dry-hump though - but it will be thorough because I love each and everyone of you.
I wasn't ripping on jpolk when i mentioned their site being blank - I was being a smart-ass - yet making a point that work requires payment (a bad way at making the point though).
... so - everyone get in line... and be sure to shave your leg to avoid chafing and hair burns.

Ok I have looked through that site and haven't read all the threads but I think that designers these days have to get back to artistic design and not this cookie cutter type style. I personally wouldn't pay 100 dollars for this site. Nothing unique about that site that wasn't already designed back in 1998. In fact its like the first version of 2a in lots of ways. But I guess this would cater to some clients. Maybe clients that don't have broadband internet access cause if I paid 5k for this then saw a site like goatterecords.com I would beat my self over the head with the closet blunt object until I was unconscious. sorry bud. later.

honestly this is hard to pitch, I don't know why you worked 6 months with out nailing down a price. If I invest more than 40hrs. in a project I will have a contract for them, if a contract scares them off then that might something about their ethics.
also I don't catch mention of where he was located, and where the client waslocated. Price for design and dynamics (flash, programming,etc) can range so greatly from place to place and person to person. Rarely do I see a real link between quality and price. I more often see the price as factor that relates to ego, and salesmenship.
if the client is happy, charge what you feel is fair for your effort. From a designers point of view this seems to be a substandard site (the sound loops being an example). so I wouldn't try to milk the cow on it.
we all start somewhere, and strive to make ourselves better at what we do. From what I have seen of the site, its clear that you can make it as a designer, you may not be awarded anything from your peers but you can pay your bills.
focus on cutting work time, attention to details and contracts that don't leave you guessing what your getting.

if so I'm so hurt, like as been said here more than once, I work for a living I test things and have dumped much on my personal site so that I and others can use the source to better other projects.
I unlike many here am trying to help and be constructed, being negative and trying to rip on people is the easiest thing in the world to do. And wasn't cool in the 8th grade when most people I know stopped doing it.
if you don't like the game, the source is there, take make it better, or write a new one from scratch and show me how its done.
I didn't ask what you think, didn't ask for a crit, and from your endless negative responces so far in this thread am likely to not listen to you had I asked.

easy son easy. the game was fun. my comment was to say it was so fun i spent like an hour trying to see how high of a score i could get.

Hmm, I read the thread and I have to say that this is the kinda shit that makes me reluctant to post my stuff up for crits here. Unlike many of you here, I don't consider myself a "professional" designer, not haveing yet been through art school, and while sometimes i'm just itching to comment when someone asks for a crit, i usually keep my mouth shut, because I dont think that my opinion is of the validity that's normally recognized through one's own work.
Many of you, while doing very nice work (and many of you being my own daily inspiration), seem to think that somehow you have earned the right to put aside constructive criticism, and let your own opinions take over your posts.
NT seems to have the reputation of a slightly more distinguished audience, then some other online venues, but that unfortunately gives many here the unnecessary air of self-importance that is sometimes downright insulting.
As you may see, I dont even have my website in my profile, because here it seems, one's website is a sort of a right to comment, and as I mentioned before, I try to refrain from doing so.
Please, note that many here are less experienced and much less confident in their work. They come here for constructive criticism, for opinions from those they look up to, and sometimes it's just plain fucking rude to dismiss them as 'kids who give a bad name to your profession' -.-

I'm glad you enjoyed it, I wish I had more time to do a little gaming but I'm currently doing Ecom packages in php/mysql and don't even have a copy of flash on work machine.
