Funny pretty much everyone i've talked to about this movie either completely loved it, or hated it.
I personally loved it.
In regards to the humour: I thought the crassness was shown from the perspective of the characters in the movie, showing the cultural barrier and their inability to completely tolerate and assimilate it; rather than crassness on Sofia's behalf.

man it was 1.5 hours of sofias diary, well made but so trite in its story if you ever experienced the average person from a well to do private high school post high school....
