Finally got around to seeing it. I waited because I knew the story and was too uncomfortable about the parellels it had with what's going on here. It didn't help to see it but I really enjoyed it. I was much more impressed with this than the Virgin Suicides (btw 50% of which I thought was outstanding), the pacing the structure, the honesty, the photography, everything really.
I did think it was a cop out that when didn't get to hear the last bit of dialogue.
I think I can see it again which usually says a lot.
Miss Johansson running around in panties most of the time wasn't too hard to take either.
Any thoughts?

I saw this at the Vienna Film Festival and Sofia introduced the film... which made it a kick ass film experience.
Although she made it a bit too easy to read the subtext.
Charlotte is Sofia
(moves just like her...)G. Ribisi is Spike
(the voice....)and the blond movie star is Cameron Diaz.
There were some rumors of Spike and Sofia splitting up before Lost in Translation was released....
Remember that scene where Spi...Ribisi and Charlotte meet the bond action star.... and how he ignored herit was just so obviouse, but it made the whole thing even more romantic..and emotional imo.

Nice to see a film that is based less on the narative structure of most mainstream releases... it was enjoyable.. but still lacked something... but I think that is how the movie is meant to leave you.

I loved it, I think sofia coppola has a voice very different from her father's and the fact that she wrote the film too promises great things from her in the future.
I loved the film for not being formulaic in any sense, I loved it for being based n characters not effects, and I loved it for being so beautifully, and so 'slightly', made.. I hate to generalise but it's much more of a european movie than hollywood.
Both leads were excellent, murray especially producing a mug-free performance of great nuance, and, along with her beautiful ass, johansson was a revelation.

So what did Murray say to Johansson after he kissed her in the last scene? ?

Nice film, I thought Bill Murray played the part of a movie star with his best days behind him very well (although I guess he didn't have to try hard)
The cinematography was good, it showed at times the real intensity of Tokyo, but if I am to have one critism, it would be that we were subjected to alot of "nice" images at times in music video sized portions.
I came out the cinema feeling good that I'd seen it, and thought on the whole, what it lacked in structure it made up for in form. Go see.

Am I to believe that Bill Murray's best days are behind him??
Rushmore, Tenenbaums, this film, and the dozens of new ones he's lined up for prove to me that he's got a second wind. As an actor with depth and subtlety!
Go Bill!

If it weren't for good acting, that movie would've sucked. The camera work made me sick to mi estomago.
