oh my "why?" was aimed at Engage who thought the different prices for diff. sizes was bizarre...

Perhaps I've learnt something today

Still think it's bizarre though.
Might start charging fat people more for t-shirts

ah... shame on them... The style would benefit if it was a bit more bespoke I reckon... Or if whoever buys it actually adds something to it

sure!

I'd probably turn all the layers off though (that was a joke, before everyone hurts me)

My comment was not meant as an attack on any specific designers in this catalog. I'm sure you do some good work. Patrick Sundqvist, one of them, is an email buddy of mine, sorry if I hurt your feelings dude.
The idea that purely formal design elements could be sold as decoration to spice up corporate brochures is funny. Made me laugh. Sure, I could have alaborated on why this idea is pathetic, but I thought it was obvious.
Anyway, this photo stock catalog, or whatever you want to call it, is not worth this much attention.
Feel free to talk smack about my work.

apologies petter, we had all missread your post as an attack against the work inside the catalog.
i completely agree that the infinity series catalogs aren't worth this much attention.
thank you for your response.

As a side, to mr Simon Clarke. I'm the dude at 3 o'clock in the photo, since you're interested to know what I look like. Not sure why?

so was I "hating" as well by saying I was just waiting to see what these artists would come up with next? Cause I was tired of the style...I used to be a big fan of it (years ago) but I would just like to see whats next.
Let me be first to admit I think people are just a little bit tired of seeing the same names over and over while there are so many other designers out there that deserve just as much if not more attention
one more question where did that "infinity" "crazy3d deconstruct style come from anyway? Someone has to know

I am just glad somone said it like it is. Thanks Petter for helping keep design to an expectation.

I am not sure where it originated, but I know in my profession (architecture), we used abstract models of piano wire, soldered together to create a formal, diagrammatic experiment, later to be taken into a building form. We also did this with bass wood and plexiglass and various other goodies we could find. This was all back before anyone knew who Alias was and before Max.
These principles were taken into the computer once it was ubiquitous.
The first guy that I knew about (although I admittedly came to the graphic scene a little later in my education) was Marcos Novak, and a prof. of mine at UCLA. It wasn't until several years later that I saw the 3D used in graphics (although I had little exposure to what was going on, so no doubt it was there and I just didn't know).
His work can be seen at:http://www.centrifuge.org/marcos…
There are several others, this was just how I began investigating 3D form in the computer (mostly Form-Z)

You can't tell me that you feel challenged by doing the same things over and over and over and over again so it's for the money and I don't blame you but be honest mate. You're defending this gimmick like it's the new black.
You might as well work as a go go dancer if you feel challenged by this type of work.
Don't think I'm hating just because it looks really played out to me.
As you said it's a "simple" freelance job so stop playing yourself homie.

boy, petter. you really pissed some people off. is this a common personality trait of yours? ;)
cause if it is, you and i would really get along.

you guys need to stop taking yourselves so serious. relax and have a drink or a few.
