amen, ng.
it's abstract, therefore it can't be considered design itself, but as an illustrative part of a design, just like some (abstract) stock photography.
and the execution of the assignment seems like a job well done, by big names such as you, nginco and renascent et al.. and wheter it's your cup of tea or not, there can't be any doubt that the work is top-notch and aimed at those designers/agencies who can fit the elements in their total design-budget. And yes, good photography costs a lot (and I do know about that!!), so why should this be any cheaper?
It's the fine result of hard labor by highly experienced
artists.. they do deserve to get their share, just as any other artist who makes his work available in the royalty-free stock biz.and, well, the number of layers... i'm not aware of the figures, but I'd imagine that's the risk/choice of the artist and DigitalVision.

And who exactly are those clients who are buying this kind of stuff?
Newstoday is a place to promote but also provide awareness of the current state of design and/or art. While alot especially those involved in the project are offended are bashing peter's post, why? Whenever there is a new oh so 3d/pshop madness coming, it's always the same shiznit and you have the nerve to question peter's NTB status?
You get your paper anyway so don't act like peter's post could end your easy way of making money with unaware clients
As far as we all know is that you don't need much talent to pull off such kind of imagery.
And please don't compare this gimmick to photography you ought to know better

Hehe, John Woo in the hizzouse keepin it real fo shizzle. Bizznizz!
I love your movies! They make me laugh and cry and fight total strangers on the street.

By the way, I will NOT participate in this discussion. I'm neutral. I will watch from a safe distance.

until you prove it's 'that easy' to do it better i might agree..
but i tell you something, you could have just made a BIG mistake by saying that, JohnWoo..
oh, and btw, your url won't load.

I just reread my posts. People like me are the reason there are petitions like this:

i can see if this kind of imagery was orginal but i dare the artists to say it is. You bite and prepared to get called out. TOYS. Yes i said it, Toys. Should i define it for you?
- cphunk0
4cy. You're very diplomatic here. I'm trying to be as well :).
However, I'm tired of being tactful here. There's too much disrespect on this site.
Mr. Woo. I will respect you for now, though I'm sad we're from the same country.
Some clients dv has sold their inifinity series to include blue chip companies such as Sega, and Mattel, as well as Sony, Nintendo, NVidia, and many others.
Yes, Petter is entitled to his opinion, only the way he presented it was unnecessary as, basically, all of us have said in this thread.
I also sincerely doubt that you can produce the caliber of work seen by many of the artists in the Inifinity series, so I will also attribute much of your post to jealousy.
However, sir Woo, showing that you know nothing of what you're speaking of, you've shown your ignorance. You're not too cool for school.
- bruno0
who the hell cares who the clients are. the work is interchangeable.
- cphunk0
Interchangeable.
You do realize that you have actually just use the word that serves the ENTIRE inifinity collection's purpose?
- jevad0
bwahahahah - remove norway from the internet!
- bruno0
yes. I think i have proven my point then. Interchangable = shit.
- ng0
bruno, i'd like for you to point out what we bit.
- bruno0
ok. let me track some down. I will have to scan in old rave flyers since anyone that did this stuff in the mid 90s is too embarassed to have it on their websites. (Airline Industries, Designers Republic, Attik ring any bells?) I apologize for not being prepared, but truthfully i quit collecting them once they became so similar.
- kodap0
Fuck that, I was robbed last week and I didn't complain.
- bruno0
oops maybe not the mid 90s, a bit later. in the meantime did not DKNY and Suture have this style as web interfaces? Almost there»

1998.
- ng0
that is hardly narrowing it down, bruno. for one, several of us have worked at or for attik before. several of us have also been doing what we do since 96/97.
- unknown0
bruno, i wholeheartedly agree with you, however, you are missing the point completely.

of this thread.

Oh are we suppose to agree because we're from the same country?
Don't be sad, there far more canadians who rate infinity as a comedy actJust because peter's comment was harsh on this gimmick art doesn't mean it was unnecessary whatsoever.
Somebody has to say that it sucks
Jealousy has nothing to do with the fact that this kind of art is easy as 1 2 3, all you need is to know a 3d package, well actually you need to know how to pull out polygons and smooth them and some photoshop , voila instant abstract 3d and no talent required.
How can you possibly say I don't know what I'm talking about?
You don't need to be a wise guy to see that it's all gimmick, it's just for the paycheck as a matter of fact and you know it.
I could pull off a stunt like that for the same amount of $ if I had to
