i meant if i were Petter or an news editor I think there would be a need to be a bit more critical but since i am anonymous i feel that i can be blunt as hell. These backgroundz questionably can be called design? they solve no problems other than to communicate some ambigious feeling of cheese. So it is hard to be critical of contentless work. Perhaps i am going to far but i would like to hear what purpose these serve? What they communicate? What in the point?

taragee. I agree. good point. CSA does sell illustration albeit illustration that communicates something other than this. perhaps i am an old fart but i agree the NTB should be more journalistically neutral.

Bruno - I'm glad you have your own opinion as to the use or quality of this work. Despite me disagreeing with you about this ARTWORK, this is not what this post is about.
Petter is a representative of newstoday, who by now, has undoubtedly read these postings. He carries the credit and respect of newstoday with his posts. When he offers unconstructive negative opinion of something, which as far as I can tell, serves little or no purpose, it discredits both newstoday, and all of the designers/artists that worked hours on the infinity collection.
I've never seen or heard of Petter's work; however, I would never think of posting something in the manner he did whether or not his work was or is poor.
The point is about tact and respect. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, just use discretion ESPECIALLY in a public arena such as newstoday.'s broadcast.

ok. the digbats communicate any number of things. from a cell phones to a television to a martini/party etc. They not interchangable as the infinity 2 backgroundz are. i would still like to hear a response as to what these communicate? What is the point besides photoshop/3D masturbation?

i realize the initial point of this post» the editorial responsiblities of the NTBers. I am just adding some comments, which i am feel entitled to do in PV. perhaps i should start a more general thread regarding content and form?

cool. i will keep that can of worms closed. sorry for the tirade. Perhaps these NTBers should take a journalism course. A couple of them tend only post items promoting themselves. is there a thread about that? Perhaps PV AN can revolt and take over the NTB.

but it's not design.

thanks everyone for your comments and bringing up these points.
although i am not personally worried about anything that could come about from petter's post, it was the fact that he put down a lot of great talent, who worked hard on what they were asked to do, at the push of a submit button. you can laugh all you want petter, but try to next time at a less childish level. i expect a lot more from a respected QBN broadcast editor.
bruno, i'm pretty sure you aren't the first to question what the purpose of those images are. but really it's not too difficult to understand. we were asked to create abstract imagery, to be used as a stock photo would be used. the purpose was for whatever the customer wanted it for. we understood that before we agreed to it. apparently their customers were asking for "high energy graphics", thus they came to us because they felt we would be good for the job. we had specific guidelines, we followed them. just as in any other project, there were changes as well. not everything you have seen looks the way we would have liked it to, but it was better for the client.
there is a lot of hatred towards us from some of you here when all we did was do a job we were asked to do. there have been complaints also about the price of the images, but keep in mind these images were created for their clientelle, not for designers.
i hope this all makes sense. maybe it can bring closure to all of the arguments and attacks against those involved with the infinity series.
if you have any more questions feel free to ask. i'd really like to see an end to all the infinity bashing.

a lot of your photography is solid - real nice. the design is sorta a fad in my opinion but i give you credit for going up against getty and the like. there will always be bashing. keep on though. i do think there is a separatist attitude with the ntb to the pv-an. nice of you to defend yourself. respect indeed
