oh man, thank Whoever that people with views like flagellum's don't rule the world.
um :0/
- flagellum0
what is so unreasonable about my views, kelpie? and why? :)
- kelpie0
nothing, if you keep them to yourself, don't attack perfectly good peer reviewed science to promote them and don't use the underlying base as a righteous justification for a violently interventionist foreign policy.
but if its just you, who cares? you're entitled.
- flagellum0
Ok good, because I do none of the above. Nor do my like-minded friends and peers.
- kelpie0
ok, now that's a little fib there, you don't dictate foreign policy though, so good on you :)
anyway, what's the point of these arguments again? I know you're obliged by your faith, but why the hell is everybody else bothering? really?
- mrdobolina0
Im just having fun with him, kelp.
- kelpie0
really unchristian of you.
- flagellum0
No fibs. I suspect you've just bought into the false caricatures your ideologues have fed you. I could be wrong. :)
- kelpie0
doubt it, I believe we are all aspects of a single homogeneous consciousness which has created a vision of the universe as a mirror to reflect its own greatness. I call this being Gesprobot the Reacher.

"the standard creationist argument (there is only one that they all reduce down to) suggests that living creatures are too complex to have come about by chance. therefore, they must have had a designer. this argument, of course, shoots itself in the foot. any designer capable of designing something really complex has to be even more complex himself and that's before we even start on the other things he's supposed to do... you can't solve the problem of complexity by postulating an agent that is even more complex, thereby compounding the problem."

Ah Dawkins, the ultimate sophist. Really should have just stuck with zoology and left the philosophy to real thinkers.
Contrary to that pap, there is no "standard creationist argument". There are a series of empirical evidences which scream of intelligent causation. Complexity is not one of them. Natural processes can in some limited instances, produce complexity. Rather, ONE argument is Specified Complexity. This is when high specificity (information structured for the purpose of attaining a goal - like programming code) is combined with low probability. This is something that Dawkins can't (or won't) wrap his brain around. Dawkins also conjures up an argument from silence which assumes that the designer is "more complex" (in the way you and I understand complexity) than the matter/energy it produced. The man is a joke.

It's usually the authoritarian types and the sheep they attract that can't handle concepts of complexity and seek spiritual solace and safety in simplistic answers.

Go and read... please.

Do you have employment flagglebottom? Outside of god's work that is? Just curious where you find the time to read all this pish you spout.
- bolus0
Don't tell me to read, you don't know me. I just wondered why on earth you would quote darwin saying that....... it only proves that evolution wasn't a religion to him, it shows his scientific mind
- bolus0
i wonder if flagellum found nt surfing the web for wiki entries on intelligent design...
