sigh, bolus the quote from Darwin is very simple and to the point. He has provided falsification criteria for his theory, in that quote. And his theory, based on that criteria, has been falsified.
skt: the burden lies with you to demonstrate where I'm spouting pish. My guess is that you just don't understand what's being presented.

yep, clearly i'm lacking in intelligence, otherwise i would have proved, like you have in your spare time, beyond all reasonable doubt, that the christian god is the one true god and that current scientific understanding is massively flawed.

religion is bad for the health. believing in god is not.

don't start talking about the wonders of the eye ....
if you would find a human skull in Mesozoic layers, that would be different...

bolus: I have little time to debate with people who don't understand the arguments. You are talking about the geologic column all of a sudden, for example. Why?
As for the eye, i'm afraid it is an engineering marvel that is better designed than the highest-end photographic lenses. So humans can't design it, but we are told to believe that blind, trial and error, natural processes did it. That's bad science all around.
Now go and learn about the specified programming code that is DNA and the molecular machinery, and the transport machines, and the transcription programs, etc... in a single cell.

the smarter someone believes himself to be, the more ignorant he is?
if you don't understand what I was saying, fine, but don't tell me I'm an idiot.
you are a classic case of placing mankind in the centre of the universe, that's arrogance

flagellum,
why do men have nipples?
- bolus0
one of god little jokes, to have gay men something to stare at in the winter I guess
- flagellum0
because they are fun to play with. duh.
was that an attempt at a dysteleology argument?
- bolus0
have = give....
- bolus0
nothing wrong with Dysteleology
- BonSeff0
c'mon ID honk
form follows function
whats with the nipples

does inefficient design = no design? If so, Henry Ford is going to ticked when you apply the same rule to his Model T.
You are making a theologicial argument which goes like this:
A perfect designer would make his designs perfect.
Now answer me a few questions:
1. What does "perfect" design look like? Who's standard of perfection are we measuring against?
2. Are things now, as they have always been? Or has time and entropy had an impact on biological and cosmological systems?
3. How many engineered systems have you encountered that were free of compromised elements for the overall efficiency of the finite system?
- skt0
anyway, you never answered my question... do you have employment? i'm genuinely curious... i mean, do you put on your cv that you have a better understanding of science than most other people on the planet?
- skt0
because that would make you pretty employable in my opinion.

dude, please, my brother is a neurologist who studied the evolution from single light capturing cells to complex human level organs at uni.
The process is incredibly long and very logical. You talk in such a way as to try to get the more suggestible members of this forum to think of these things as single improbable leaps, when they are demonstrably not.
this is the only problem I have with you, you are entitled to your religious faith whether any of us share it or not, but you lie, constantly, not to effect us, but to influence people reading who may not be contributing and may be fooled by your rhetoric.
tut tut you.
anyway. out.

I'm in programming with an engineering background. And yes, this makes me a tad more qualified to identify design when i see it. Beyond that, I simply have a great interest in science as it pertains to questions of origins, etc...

check my portfolio yo
jk2. Are things now, as they have always been?
no, obviously
3. How many engineered systems have you encountered that were free of compromised elements for the overall efficiency of the finite system?
every engineered system i have encountered are made by man
including religion.

kelpie: your neurologist will be forced to admit that the inverted retina of the eye is brilliant - it filters out shadows and it chanels oxygen to the nerves better this way. (not even taking into account the irreducible connectivity between photoreceptors and the brain, etc...) Again, we cannot produce the lens functionality, but are told material processes can, sans intelligence.
