My wife was looking through some old photos and other bits and pieces from her childhood. She'd written a story called "Willy on Holidays".
She wasn't too impressed when I asked her if that was a story about Willy having a holiday, or something she liked on her holidays.

Every time the NSFL thread pops up, I see it and say to myself 'no fucking way am I clicking that' and before I know it I've clicked it.
- same :)renderedred
- that makes three of us! fucking my eyes are burning now.capn_ron
- just done the exact sameFax_Benson
- I've never clicked it, or the NSFW thread. I would rather not have to wish to un-see things.Continuity
- NSFW thread is one of the best ones here, and I applaud all who post to it. NSFL is tricky - 90% OH GOSH, 10% I'M NEVER CLICKING THIS SHIT AGAIN...detritus

- @detritus well curiosity overcame me and I went to watch said gif. It's actually really not that bad at all. Mild in comparisonset

for no good reason other than sad self-amusement I add "_again" to every repeated submission of the same file I get from clients - the exact same file, I mean - redone to fix some internal problem, NOT design iterations, etc.
I've just got to
"left_again_again_again_again_ag...
meaning it took the client 6 attempts to get the file sent over in a format that began to make sense to me and I can work with - and i do this shit a lot, so i have a fairly good capacity for interpreting files from less than wonderful sources (looking at you, architects and students (especially you, architects)).

How many emails do you cunts write on a day?
I'm on 30 today so far, not including personal shit.
it's work, sure, and some of it rounds off existing work, others will lead to new work - but fundamentally, it's not really actual productive work, is it?
It's not like I get paid for writing that crap and reading the various shit I receive each day.
I sometimes wish I had an employed 9-5, then I'd happily diahrrea emails all over the place, all day long.
- I forgot about the three emails sent from my phone before I got into the studio this morning.detritus
- One day I'll be able to write 'diarrhea' without having to check an online dictionary.detritus

- So.. er.. how do you communicate work-wise?detritus
- 1-2 dozen a day at work, but hardly ever use email for personal use anymore at allmonospaced

Is 256GB enough? 512GB for $200 more seems wasteful.
- ssd? will that be your only drive?BabySnakes
- for wut?moldero
- A phone?Ramanisky2
- On a laptop? 256GB is not enough.nb
- Need more than 512gbrobotron3k
- 256gb is perfect for an OS and/or strach disk. 512 gb is more if you require storagemugwart
- I generate Gigabytes of data every week, so moving from 2TB on the earlier MacBooks down to 512GB SSDs was a bit of a setback. short vers: go for more storagemonospaced

How many external drives do you have?
What do you place on your computer HD? What do you place on your external?
Do you use a 3rd one for Time Machine? How often do you update that?
- main drive: applications only
1 external: cache for adobe & resolve shit
1 external: projectmoldero - About six 2.5" drives of photographs (most 0.5TB to 1TB each). One for really old projects. One for less-old projects.nb
- And a huge one to back up all those little ones.nb
- HD: mostly current work, docs, etc...
External 1: music, videos & software
External 2: Back-up of my work
External 3: Back-up of my Graffitioey - Int: SSD for OS etc, 1TB for work and assets, 1TB for media.
Ext: 1TB for extra media - comics etc, 1TB for backups and 1TB as backup for the backup.face_melter - Internal ssd for system, 2tb for projects, 3 externals for backup.
I've got a ton of dvd's with very old things too...OBBTKN - 42 zips, 120 Syquests, 28 Jazz drivesGnash
- ^ lol. I am sure I till have piles of those somewhere! Lifesavers at the time.formed
- if you need to manually update your backups it's not a backup, so you don't "update that" you leave it always onernexbcn
- Ext1: PLEX
Ext2: Google Backup (all my stuff is there)
Ext3: Backup
Intern1: system + programs
Intern2: Files I need to clean, all my stuff is in the cloud nowBennn

From Urban dictionary:
http://www.urbandictionary.com/d…
QBN
An bunch of über elitist designers who run an online design community and think that their shit doesn't stink. Can also be referred to as the QBN Reich."Man, those designer over at XYZ designers are bunch of fuckin QBN's."

So my youngest is 13 and she is a badass in band. She's going in to High School this year and we promised her a new trumpet.
Holy shit I didn't know they were so expensive! The one the school recommends is a Pro Model Yamaha @ $2,500.00
There is a more intermediate one at $1,500.00.
FML but I want her to have the best...
- Surely there's a healthy market in decent second hand trumpets - old ones especially? (*has no idea what he's on about - talking out of ass :)detritus
- damn!!!! That is mucho monies! Second hand option has to be out there for a least some money savings.capn_ron
- lease at first. that's what i did. https://www.long-mcq…Gnash
- I paid $19/monthGnash
- I would buy a used one, there's so many kids who give up playing after just a year, you can find a lot in immaculate conditionmoldero
- I had a $2500 sax as a kid I played throughout school and this was around 30 years ago, instruments are bank.moldero
- She has been playing for four years with a cheap used one and has been first chair two years in a row. She's shooting for USC marching band. She is serious.HijoDMaite
- and cool too, don't let her down with some cheap stuff :) i mean it also says how much you value her talent and commitmentsted
- First chair... shooting for USC Marching band... fuck, hijo... spend that money... seems like you won't even notice it's gone given how good she probably is. :)PonyBoy
- I'm a little one-sided here though... I too was first chair trumpet at that age and saved for a nicer piece... it was worth it. Does her HS march / compete?PonyBoy
- I never had a boy to play in the NFL, so I make her practice like a slave. LolHijoDMaite
- Buy her the expensive one. Guilt her into greatness for all you had to sacrifice. Works like a charm.shellie
- Convince her not to play music. It's gonna ruin her life. I know so many musicians and they're all broke mofos! Lolpango
- if you've already established that she's serious then go for the good one. it makes a diff.Gnash
- lol pango. I already learned that lesson. My other kid wanted to be a teacher and I said some stupid shit to her about that decision.HijoDMaite
- My instrument cost a fortune, couldn't afford to buy it so leased it for years. but it made a differenceGnash
- what kind of instrument gnash?shellie
- classical bass. to buy it was 95K, so i leased. I bought my bow, though. That was 5KGnash
- she's going to Vista High School here in San Diego. One of the best marching bands in the country. They even played at Carnegie Hall last year!HijoDMaite
- even a rusty trombone can cost hundreds of dollarssarahfailin
- 95K! what the what!! O_Opango
- Get her a Yamaha XF, there's like fifty trumpets in there. Blow her teacher away...futurefood
- that's crazy gnash. i have a cello i don't know how to play. im learning guitar first but im going to put this cello to use damnit.shellie
- at the time I was on track to a professional classical career so i needed that kind of instrument to be taken seriously. it's a very judgey world that.Gnash
