If you had the power to skip time (e.g in situations where you have to wait), but under the condition that these few minutes/hours will be lost forever -- would you ever use it?
- nahmonospaced
- noperabbit
- Hmm. It'd be hard to differentiate what waiting is. Would being on an 8hr flight be waiting? Is commuting to work waiting? Is work just waiting for the weekend?HAYZ1LLLA
- seems like a pretty dumb super power. what happens to you while you're skipping time? are you just frozen in place? or do you merely have no memory of your actssarahfailin
- skipping time at will, in any situations. You remember everything. Recall where you were 1 hour ago. Imagine that the last hour has been skipped in one second.drgs
- you still have some emotional memories, but you did not actually live/experience these moments. when looking at the past we all have this powerdrgs
- so ... could you skip until Friday and then find yourself at the weekend and your work all done?monospaced
- oh ... just a few minutes/hours ... so you could essentially just skip a meetingmonospaced
- are you actually productive during this time-skip? like, can you skip, but still run that errand, or finish a workout?monospaced
- on those 16 hours flight maybe. mostly i just sleep anyway.pango
- productive and all, but it all will be in the past. you will never experience these moments live in person.drgs
- and the question is: would it actually make a difference? in a way it already applies to every moment lived. I think I have achieved enlightenmentdrgs
- but you are experiencing lifemonospaced

Any parents here find that your relationships with coworkers or clients who are also parents seem to make your work life so much easier, because you and those people know, without even saying it "you're tired, I'm tired, we don't have time to think we're going to be perfect all the time." It's a marvelous middle ground that's different than, say, being younger and a non-parent and the parents around you having the expectation that you're refreshed, ready to go, and perfect all the time.
Speaking of parents... got about 9 days give or take until our son is born!

and congratulations :)Gnash - Thanks Gnash! Our daughter is almost 2 1/2, we're so excited to add another one. After that... vasectomy time. :Dmg33

If you buy a water bottle for a $1 at a gas station and charge it to your CC, how much of a transaction fee do they pay?
- is this a riddle? I like riddlesGnash
- if you buy the gas and water separate w/your cc you're more than likely getting hit w/that fee twice.PonyBoy

- is it a percentage of each transaction, no matter the size? Not a certain number i think, but a percentage.capn_ron

QBN. I would like some feedback since a lof of you are designers and creators. This would pertain to my design career.
I have recently taken Simon Sineks Why Discovery Course and merged tactics with the compound effect workshops and other books I read to find my purpose, values, and beliefs.
A couple strong themes came to the forefront.
1. Encouraging inclusiveness provides opportunity.
2. Guided love and encouragement boosts self-esteem.
3. Generosity and collaboration reduces riskFrom these I created my why statement:
To be more collaborative and generous with our clients so that they can feel more confident and successful serving their customers. What do you guys think of this statement? What do you think a client would feel from this statement from their point of view?
- After reading it a couple of times, I got it. It makes sense but maybe there's a better way to say that?Maaku
- lol, you found your "purpose, values and beliefs" in workshops and books? the result is a "why statement" that sounds like standard creative boilerplatemonospaced
- No, I found it reflecting in my values through personal workshops and storiesHayoth

life is a fucking rollercoaster. yesterday i worked 18 hours straight and it had me questioning my whole life's path. shit was bananas. got three hours of sleep last night.
today i drank a pot of coffee, shipped my presentation, hammered out another 36 (!) concepts and got out of work at 8pm (early for me!). fucking beast mode. stopped at trader joes and amoeba records for a bottle of rye and a couple mastadon tees, then got sloshed and caught up on my comic books (conan the slayer, rick & morty, the dark crystal) on the train while listening to some death metal i dug up. fucking stellar day. now i'm gonna go to bed early 'cause i fucking can.
grit your teeth and barrel through the hell boys, there are always days afterward that make it worth it

I'm so sick of rap music and hip hop culture but the shit is not going to go away any time soon. Every generation makes it more and more mainstream thinking it's soo cool and hip. Yeaaahhh
The whole shit just seems so square to me now, but if people feel it that's alright.

- Underground hip hop was the shit from 95-05.HijoDMaite
- If you turn on HGTV, their standard background music was once considered death metal and jungle. Music evolves. Everything becomes square eventually.monospaced
- And yeah, I think mainstream rap is fucking awful. The whole thing with the over-repetition and purposefully slurred words isn't a good sound to me.monospaced

The ITER fusion project costs around $15Bn.
Apple reputedly has $250Bn in cash reserves.
They could do 5 ITERs without even breaking a sweat.
And ITER's like 15 small fusion projects worth of investment, so 75 fusion projects worth.
A single company potentially has the capacity to solve the world's energy problems, and given that energy is The Most Important thing — most of the world's problems.
Or Alphabet. Or LockheedMartin, etc.
- Didn't Apple build massive solar and wind farms?monospaced
- instead, once ITER is full functional funded by public institutions, it's the energy industries who are gonna make $.uan
