Eric Adams explaining to the news about how the NYPD would spare no expense and give this case special treatment and then immediately realizing what he was admitting to and adding, “but we would do that for any New Yorker. We don’t give special treatment.” was a perfect example of another aspect to why people aren’t too upset about this murder.
Class divide is strong in America.
The CEO is highly compensated because of his leadership, direction and influence. But when push comes to shove, we allow him to hide behind “the system” as if he has no influence at all. He is just a victim of the system? Please. We’re not buying that. If he has no influence, why does the board need to pay him so much?
Some say, “any CEO would do the same.” But that’s flawed logic. No one who wouldn’t do the same wouldn’t get to be CEO.
Then, when he is murdered, we all have to watch our police force give his case extra treatment. While cops sit in the subway scrolling their phones, ignoring people. People report violent crime and are told by nypd that “we didn’t see it, there’s nothing we can do”.
And so we don’t care.

Kinda gross that someone's dad got killed in the street and everyone is ignoring that because the shooter is cute and the victim worked for a bad company. I hate the US healthcare system as much as anyone else but the two kids who will grow up without a dad really don't deserve this.

- I've heard this argument used before but it's dumb. Would we say the same for Stalin or Ted Bundy or Bin Laden?_niko
- What about the millions and milions of poor kids suffering after losing a loved one due to the health companies' shinanigans? kids who aren't set up for life_niko

here's where the horror and frustration lies.
Cold uncaring algorithms and cold uncaring stakeholders placing profit over human lives. It's this scene in aliens Romulus where they arbitrarily deny her release request of release
or the entire plot of Brazil
or the real-life horror show of the British post office scandal
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Br…or the distopial world of robocop and this malfunctioning nightmare..
It's that feeling of helplessness, the dread and angst of going up against the uncaring brutal machine, the bureaucratic one or the literal ai terror that we've created to take over our decisions.
People are scared shitless and fed up.
- Romulus is defo a Musk space colony, folk getting space cancer and never seeing the sun with no hope of escape.PhanLo
- you can add Robodebt to this as well; distopia from down under. https://en.wikipedia…MrT
- Elysium was a great film in regards to these examples too. I think Social Media only adds to the problem, because it leads us to believe we have a voice.Ianbolton

Is it odd to see the glorification of what this guy did as just one step towards a society that would be thrilled for the Purge movies to literally happen in real life?
- You said it better than me – totally agree with this, and ironically its the left that are loving itDaveO
