Britons who want to rejoin EU at highest levels since 2016, survey finds
Data showed 58% would vote to re-enter bloc, while respondents said they trusted the European Commission more than the UK government- That's not the Brexit we voted for though. It's just great at the moment.PhanLo

- ^ Glad that we'll be free to fall to our deaths again, now we've got rid of EU regs.
She sounds exactly like my mother in law.PhanLo - How the fuck is it still so low! Should at least be 75% by now surely!HAYZ1LLLA

- This is how I picture up small towns
https://pbs.twimg.co…Gnash - UK* not upGnash
- So many lovely places like that yep, but Milton Keynes was a post war new town built for overspill, they even attempted to create a US utopia (no road islandsfadein11
- and all built on a grid system). Very odd place but they are all over the Midlands also.fadein11
- Redditch being a prime example.fadein11
- I lived in MK for 41 years and confirm it is an awful place to live, but I always lived in the older town areas. There is no more a souless place to live..Gardener
- Apart from Northampton where I lived for 15 years after, I'm glad I now live in Scotland as it may not be a happening place but there is beauty on my doorstep.Gardener

Further to my much-disliked strike whinge the other day - I need to get my passport renewed. It's fine 'til October, but I need to play safe with the EU's 3 month rule requirement, and given I only travel to the EU, that's kind of important. In a couple of weeks workers at the Passport Office are engaging in a 5 week strike. That will lead to an inevitable backlog of orders, so I'm going to have to somehow time this perfectly as I need to send my current passport in with the application which in turn means that I can't travel then. Given I'm supposed to be going to Europe three times across an even spread between now and October, that does really rather fuck things up.
I'm not whinging at the strikers here. I'm just whinging.
Why does life suck so much in this country these days?
- I only realised my situation this morning (I didn't know about the EU's 3 month thing). If I had done so, I'd've done this shit prior.Nairn
- re: my last line < there.
The answer is "It's the fucking Tories".
I know that.Nairn - People wanted to shag a union jack, that's why everything sucks.PhanLo
- You can see that UK since 2015 is on a downward trajectory. Move if you can. I have a exit plan.shapesalad
- I'm only still here because my EU partner can get the best kind of job that she can here, so here I am. Me too, as sad as it is to say.Nairn
- It's prudent to do a passport renewal in-personzardoz
- i too got hit by the eu's insistence on a 3 month cushion, but that's ok becasue brexit has worekd well in every respect.hans_glib
- i also found out too late and it was with all the pandemic slowdown so i ended up having to pay thru the nose for the passport people to expedite it.hans_glib
- when i went to the passport office to collect it, sure enough, there were all the workers sitting around doing fuck all, but expediting like crazy.hans_glib

flol facepalm ect etc
brookes are an english company making saddles in england. or so they say:
Brooks England LTD
(Manufacturing Works)
Downing Street, Smethwick
B66 2PA, West Midlands,
England UKhowever if you order anything from them you get this message:
"Due to new Brexit regulations, UK orders must meet a minimum of £135.
For more information, please read here."
https://www.brooksengland.com/en…it seems the saddles are made in england, shipped to italy for sending out around the world. but they cost less than £135, so if you live in the uk you're shit out of luck. or pony up the extra £20 for the privilege.
- I don't think the sort of people who buy Brookes bikes would even notice that extra £20. You rich cunt.Nairn
- I like the way they say 'spa' rather than 'S.p.A.' which sort of seems its trying to hide the foreign ownershipNairn
- hahaha they sent me a 30% off spam. i was simply looking to see how much a saddle i can't afford and don't need would cost is all.hans_glib
- Wait. Do Brooks only make the saddlery? I thought they did the bikes too?Nairn
- so my 30% discount would bring the cost down to £80 or so.
but i'd have to buy two to get that discount.
effing scammershans_glib - and they make overpriced bike luggage as well.hans_glib

Liz Truss energy and tax plan ‘will give richest families twice as much support’
Thinktank says richest tenth of UK households would receive £4,700 on average, and poorest tenth £2,200Liz Truss’s plans for an energy price freeze and sweeping tax cuts will give Britain’s richest households twice as much financial support with living costs as the poorest households, according to a leading thinktank.
