There is a video on this article about Creamona hospital in Italy, just can't embed it here:
"We passed room after room full of coffins. At the end of a corridor he opened a door and gestured that we go inside what I could see was a church.
I didn't understand, but as we turned the corner we were confronted by more rows of coffins.
There are so many dead at the Cremona Hospital in Lombardy that they have to use the church to store the bodies before they are picked up and taken away to be cremated.
Their families haven't been able to pay their last respects or say goodbye. They can't because they are in lockdown quarantine.
AdvertisementIt's a recurring theme now, everyone dies alone...."
- Hah disregard the "Advertisement", guess I copied too muchNutter

Fuck.
"I want to plead on their behalf the way people on TV will implore the shooter brandishing a gun in their face to have mercy because they have two small children and a mom with Alzheimer’s, hoping that if the shooter sees them as a real person, maybe they’ll survive."
- This is what happens when you don’t have a government by the people and for the people but instead have a kleptocracy cont by big business_niko

the money is there to deal with this. all this debating about which program to 'stimulate' the american economy with, a week after the fed just blindly hands over $1.5 trillion to the banks.
the money is there. it is purely a decision of those in power to not go after it and use it to help the rest of us.
- Banks before bros. You and me die, bankers do not cry.NBQ00
- The only reason it's being debated is because they HAVE TO help regular people. Not much money to be made in banking when millions are bankrupt and homeless.yuekit
- deathboy will have answers for us.utopian
- according to him(deathboy) this doesn't reflect back to him as added tax in the future but if that money is given to people, it does.Beeswax
- Free money for people = socialism
free money for banks = no problem
They have to support the interest lobby because you know that's what's most importantBeeswax - I just like to say, colin, I like the cut of your jib. You and I have seen eye-to-eye on just about everything with this situation and its fallout.Continuity

UK government to pay 80% of wages for those not working in coronavirus crisis
- yes but £95 a week (if sick) for the self employed. Hopefully will change soon.fadein11
- Our beloved U.S. Congress is fighting over whether to send out a one time check for $650 or $1,200- per person.utopian
- not good utop, I hope they do similar. It was a huge unexpected response from our govt. It just left out a lot of people who frequent this site. Freelancers,fadein11
- sole traders, contractors, tradesmen etc. The tories pride themselves on the party of entrepreneurs but it looks like we may be left out to dry on this one.fadein11
- As I say, hopefully there will be yet another u-turn as things are changing day by day. £95 a week compared to 80% salary. Bizarre. Backlash has been huge allfadein11
- day so we will have to wait to see.
All the best to you and yours.fadein11

Israeli scientists are on the cusp of developing the first vaccine against the novel coronavirus, according to Science and Technology Minister Ofir Akunis. If all goes as planned, the vaccine could be ready within a few weeks and available in 90 days, according to a release.
- Seems very different from what I've been seeing in the US media. Everyone says a vaccine would take a year or more.yuekit
- agreed yueutopian
- the clinical testing takes that long. till they prove it won‘t kill everybody.uan
- Not in Israel apparently?yuekit
- They're just self-promoting. This is pure speculation.zarkonite

Iam really worried for my 71 yo mother more than anything, her health isn't great.. At one point it's gonna be difficult to avoid the virus, it's endless all the ways you can catch it. I also can't understand how the system could sustain all this for many weeks... And for months, i think its impossible... Too much things are stopped right now, the consequences are going to be massive! Crazy how it was "a virus in China" thing for months and it suddenly changed our lifes in a few days... I don't know, just thinking out loud.
- I feel the same. My 80 year old mother is trapped in Spain (Canaries) at my uncles, been v.ill for 5 days, may be a coincidence. Advised her not to go butfadein11
- went anyway as going with my cousin (late 50's)... Ugh. Can't get back for weeks. Feel so helpless. Spoke to her this morning, much improved. But god knows.fadein11
- It's the media, just ignore it.deadsperm
- I'm worried about mine, too. She's 71 and lives in rural New Brunswick, which quite possibly has as bad a health care infrastructure as the US.Continuity
- On the other hand, there's a very low population density, so maybe that will work in her favour.Continuity
- At the moment I am thinking the same, if she gets better she is in the best place for her right now. Not so much if ill as healthcare so poorfadein11
- I lost my dad on march 3rd because of an upper resp. infection. It's not Covid he had problems for a while. There's not an hour that I don't think of him, hurtsBeeswax
- Super worried about my mom now, I cant handle another loss atm.Beeswax
- much love bee, so sorry to hear. you are a goodun. i hope things get better xfadein11
- thanks fade. I hope you mother is safe there.Beeswax
