"So why are sanctions against Russian banks still on the table, while cutting off SWIFT access has been deemed a step too far? There’s a simple answer: Removing Russian access would constitute an economic shock that U.S. politicians and corporations would rather not instigate. There’s a more complicated and consequential explanation, however, that has to do with anxiety over the U.S. dollar’s status as global reserve currency. SWIFT sanctions, rather than being a “nuclear option” thwarting Russia, could be the first domino in a sequence of events that bolster China- and Russia-backed alternative digital payment systems. Such sanctions might also, in the long run, steer emerging markets toward blockchain-based systems that would reduce global reliance on the U.S.-centric international monetary system. Altogether, SWIFT sanctions could very well incite the dedollarization of the world economy."

The Crypto Revolution Is an Existential Crisis for Video Games
An internal culture war is playing out across the video game industry, with developers (and players) pitted against executives and crypto evangelists.- I know many games that are moving into crypto, mostly for 'ownable' content to move closer to 'ready player one' concepts. I personally see GTA6 doing this.hydro74
- i can't see Rockstar doing anything of the sort... They are the only publisher that's slow as fuck and has never in a hurry to push out shitty content.jonny_quest_lives

- Especially after shtting the bed with the release of their "GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition" Rockstar will probably be focusing on tuning GTA6 for successjonny_quest_lives

"The things that were being done were super sketchy," Newell told Eurogamer. "And there was some illegal shit that was going on behind the scenes, and you're just like, yeah, this is bad. Blockchains as a technology are a great technology, that the ways in which has been utilised are currently are all pretty sketchy. And you sort of want to stay away from that."- Gabe Newell

Have any Coins skyrocketed lately or is this all pre-Elon on SNL when Doge went through the roof.
I put $50-100 on a handful as a gamble and all have seemed to go down.

This must be a fun thing for "play-for-pay" victims to watch, as the thief slowly and successfully launders his hundreds of millions
The attacker(s) behind the crypto industry’s largest exploit have started to move some of the stolen loot through anonymizing services.

Is Crypto Re-Creating the 2008 Financial Crisis?
“This is an old trick from the financial industry: Make things more complex.”Allen studies financial crises—specifically, threats to financial stability and the ways in which financial fallout affects regular people, not just institutions—and she has testified before the House Financial Services Committee. Her recent essay focuses on the financial innovations (money market mutual funds, credit default swaps, mortgage-backed securities) that ultimately led to the 2008 crisis and draws parallels between those and some of the tools and dynamics in the world of crypto and decentralized finance (DeFi). DeFi, she argues, is repeating many of the mistakes of the past.
- It's certainly not happening. It's genius when you think about it - literally assets created out of NOTHING. Not even pretending to be anything.formed
- Pure marketing, pure hype, pure speculation. Almost exactly like the CDO's, etc., and a million other financial vehicles.formed
- Thanks for posting. Good read.formed
- BTC isn't created from nothing - it's created from energy. It's value is a result of supply : demand.shapesalad
- It's utility is it's deflationary, portable and easily transferable.shapesalad
- Exactly, it's based on nothing but s:d. Hence why it's so unstable and can go to zero in a nanosecond (or a billion). Gambling.formed
- Which is fine, but people are sold on this idea that it is something 'different', when it's just a financial tool, controlled the same way other assets are.formed

In short, most cryptocurrency donors sent money to Ukraine because they believed they would be able to personally profit from their donation. How? Later selling a reward they'd receive in exchange for their donated crypto, treating their contribution more like an investment
- not true for everyone. I personally contributed some crypto that was used to acquire a bus for humanitarian needs.zaq
- i dont see that they claimed it for everyone...neverscared
