So my 46" samsumg is on the blink and Im thinking about buying a new one.
Cheaper to buy a new one than it is to get it repaired Im guessing...
What do you guys have or what would you go for?
I watch sports. Sometimes moves and sometimes playstation
Thanks

I have a silent boycott against Samsumg (well not so silent now!).
Panasonic/ Sony even Toshiba still make sturdy ones.

In order to be future proof, you should get one that is 4K with HDR10 and/or Dolby Vision. Those are the new standards for movies and even Playstation games, which will become more common every day. If you're into a really amazing picture, you would consider only the OLEDs.
Personally, this is what I would buy:
http://www.lg.com/us/tvs/lg-OLED…Reviewers across the board say it's hands down the best picture on any TV they've ever seen, basically.
- Sony uses the LG display in their best TVs too :)monospaced
- I'm secretly hoping my 10-year-old 46" Samsung LED dies so I can have a real excuse to buy this. Haha.monospaced
- HDR is nice but be weiry with it. No one works with this colour gamut yet (film and TV). hell i still think they are 4:0:0 chromamugwart
- hell most films are still worked at 2k. Be great for gamesmugwart
- @mugwart, there are movies and studios already releasing content in HDR, as well as game makers. it's rare, but it is happening and will be the new standardmonospaced
- but you're right, at this point, the vast majority of content won't take advantage of it at allmonospaced
- ^ what mugwart said. only very recently has finishing in 4k even been a thing - let along HDR...inteliboy
- I did say "future proof." Anyway, there's more content than either of you seem to be aware of.monospaced
- For games I can see the point but films - not yet. Most films are 2k and worked in in dcip3 or rec709 cubes. I can imagine they just convert "up" to HDRmugwart
- Netflix or streaming services will lead the way but that will be year plus away. No one is sure which one yet thoughmugwart
- you clearly know a lot of technical things, but there's a big collection of full HDR mastered films out there, and Dolby went in on it 100% with the standardmonospaced
- iTunes (and others) already have a huge catalog of 4K + HDR content available right this moment. Once again, I said "future proof" because it IS 1 year awaymonospaced
- Sucks buying a new TV just to find out that it's outdated the next year :)monospaced

I've had really great luck with LG, and I have a Vizio that I'm really happy with.
I got my hands on a TCL Roku enabled 50" TV for cheap and it's the bees knees. I wasn't expecting it to be as good as my other TVs.
Whats your price point?

I'm a longtime Samsung fan and bought a 4k tv last year that came with their Smart Remote. Can't rave about it enough for it's simplicity, nice on-screen interface, and the ease with which different devices connect (Apple TV, blu ray, etc.)
http://www.samsung.com/global/tv…
The remote's design is different than what i have but still does the same things.
- How much $$$ ??Ramanisky2
- Not much. I got a 43" 4k for like $600. It's not on all their lines yet though.mg33

- that's nice.zarkonite
- You truly don't need any other remotes. It's awesome. Worked with Apple TV immediately, nothing to do but plug in.mg33
- We have an older 70" Samsung Plasma that came with our house (sellers left it there) and it's great, but I'd love a larger 4k for my basement.mg33

Don't know how old that set is, but most new TV's zap the cinematic quality out of movies. Turn off anything in the settings labeled "Motion". Every time I go to someone's house, anything that isn't sports looks awful (even sports do sometimes).
They're like "It looks fine". No, it doesn't. It looks like fuckin' Days of our Lives.
- +1monospaced
- haha 100% agree. watched the show ballers in a hotel the other night and i felt like i was watching a soap opera about sports.SteveJobs
- I am notorious for asking people if I can fix their TV's when they've got this stuff turned on.mg33
- haha, me too mg33; I've calibrated a few TVs for friends after they spent months watching their new expensive TVs in "utter shite mode" the whole timemonospaced

my question is, 65in or 75in?

I think people quit calling it a TV set back after the 70s

I bought a 55" Samsung 4K TV just like the one above. Everything about it is amazing. and it was only about $1000.
I love how the cord management is through the legs of the feet.
The only thing I don't like about it is that the edges are so thin my Xbox Kinect camera mount is thicker than the edge so my TV looks like an iPhone X screen!

currently wanting a LG C7 65". its like $3200. Currently have two Panasonic Plasmas. I can't stand LED(LCD) displays they make everything look like shit. im a snob when it come to this shit and worried a bit about the 4k upscale. im not too worried about price, my current plasma was $3400 when i bought it 11 years ago, but thats my sweet spot.
anyways, if anyone has a LG OLED i would love to hear from you.
- that's the one I've been reading about (and posted above), it's on my list, but probably at the 55"monospaced
- Fuck, I have to work on my grammar and sentence structure.ArmandoEstrada
- Same TV I've been looking at. Have heard nothing but good things about it's B series predecessor.duckseason
- I think the difference between the two is negligible at most. Same display 100%. It might be cosmetic only.monospaced
