- heh, right on Netflix, i dig it.fyoucher1
- Being nice to the fans of your product or brand is 99% of the battle when asking them to cut it the fuck out. No reason to attack small businessesshellie
- crucify them! i mean uh, well played?juanluisgarcia
- Legally they have to if they want to retain to retain their trademark rights, but yes - no reason it can't be done nice.detritus
- very courteous requestsmonospaced
- The beautiful thing about this is: It shows that you can get away with it for a while.detritus
- You get a month or six, then a C&D.
You make your money - push it too far, then you get sued. Perhaps.
It's a get out of jail free card of sorts.detritus - IANAL.

On a scale of 1 - 10, with 10 being "it's so bad I want to vomit" how bad is the 3rd season really?
I stand by my assessment that season 2 was somebody's kickass 80's play trying to be wrapped in a plot that got boring fast.
- 4? I liked it way better than season 2. But, I don't feel like I want to rewatch it.section_014
- same, was good, better than S2... but really none of the scary, suspenseful magic from S1, in fact more of a comedy?prophetone
- good enough for one binge watchprophetone
- Season 1 = 1, Season 2 = 5, Season 3 = 3zarkonite
- Wait, how are your scales 1 being good and 10 being bad?ArmandoEstrada
- S1 = 2, S2 = 4, S3 = 6e-wo
- Your scales are weird.
Season 3-
Act I - Really damn good
Act II - Pretty damn good
Act III - Shit, this again.DRIFTMONKEY - the scales are weird b/c they are... upside downprophetone
- I found season 2 tedious but enjoyed the new season. Seems like they made a choice to shift the tone into more of a comedy/ mash up of 80s references.yuekit
- Upsidedown? appropriatejaylarson
- It ain't dark. But it's GOOD.robthelad
- Yuekit - “more of a mashup of 80’s...” that doesn’t sell it to me. That’s what I like least about it.mg33
- our family just finished it last night. big thumbs up from us :) We've enjoyed all 3 seasons.exador1

This season was fucking terrible. So bad. I said here after the first season ended that I wanted them to leave that story alone and do a different story for season 2, sort of like Tales from the Crypt or whatever. I thought that extending it would force them to come up with ridiculous ideas just to keep this going, and I was right!
The first few episodes were alright I guess, but my god does it get so beyond stupid over the last 4 or so episodes. Really, shitty CGI monster dogs running around everywhere??? Lmao get outta here. Show is trash now.
- It was originally pitched as an anthology series, but "fucking terrible" is a bit much.i_monk
- Nah I felt it was pretty accurate.CygnusZero4
- damn, look at you go..
type all your feelings for us manMiguex - We all knew it was going to be less than first... like 90% of sequels.hotroddy

- No way, Cyg has negative reviews of something? What r the odds?

- The only real shit episode was where they attempt to set up series 3 by sending 11 to NY. Rest wasn’t toooooo bad.Ianbolton
- lolinteliboy
- I'm half way through and we have to agree. The CG pet thing is so stupid.monospaced
- my kids and I loved it. thought the Dustin/Steve bro thing was fun, loved the snow dance ending...exador1
- That was Chicago, not NY.i_monk
- What shows DO you like, Cygnus? You don't like this. You think GoT is shit. What's good?noneck
- We need a Cygnus Approves thread for the three things he doesn't think are shit.i_monk
- Pet thing was stupid, but overall it was good. There's not many shows that aren't super predictable and formulaic. It's entertainment, not Shakespeare.formed

Loving it so far. I don't know if you can see in on YouTube, but on my TV when watching in the dark, the opening credits have little grains and specs, especially noticeable near the end of the credits.
And the title type face reminds me of Stephen King novels from the 80's, as a similar typeface was used on his books from that era.
- Yeah... Totally spotted that King book font treatment... Thought it was a nice touchPonyBoy
- Completely different fonts.monospaced
- no shit, mono... it paid homage... yes totally different fonts... but the S and R placement etc...
again... a nice touchPonyBoy - pretty standard 70's/80's horror film fonts.fadein11
- The 'grains' and 'specs' treatment...been seeing that a lot the last few years. Mostly just people being retro / trendy—but here it's lovely / purposeful. <3 itPonyBoy
- This has so much going for it, I'm sad there are only 8 episodes. Firing up episode 3 now!elahon
- not exactly official... but it looks like Modine let it slip that there will be a second season, elahon: http://screencrush.c…PonyBoy
- PonyBoy chill, no need to lash out at me with curse words just because the fonts look nothing alike. Same time period is the "no shit" here.monospaced
- Your consistent 'corrective tone' needs to fucking "chill", mono... that and your 'captain obvious' comments are damn near as annoying as yuri at times. smhPonyBoy
- @elahon i love watching this in the dark as well. :)sea_sea
- Im a type nerd on a design site. The fonts are different. That's what I said. You got bent out of shape like a child.monospaced
- And you're delusional if you think I'm corrective in nature. Must be thinking of someone else. I don't go around like a cunt correcting spelling like some jerksmonospaced
- Nobody said it was the exact font but paying homage to the era... your statement was obvious an unnecessary... and corrective. Never Change, mono. :)PonyBoy
- Sorry you felt that way, but I feel the same about your response to me. I didn't see my comment as anything but a discussion on what typeface it was.monospaced
- lots of feelings going on here...
... up for a hug, young fella? c'mon... bring it in.... briiiiiing it in. <3 sorr sorr, mono <3PonyBoy - I didn't notice any corrective tone - he just knew what the font was... jesus of all the shit that goes down on here to get annoyed about that ha.fadein11
- Fade... Did you need captain 'no shit' to explain those fonts weren't the same?PonyBoy
- Why do you keep calling me captain 'no shit?' I don't have a habit of going around making corrections and stating the obvious. Relax.monospaced
- wow, dude, I respect a lot this intro, have to see the show nowfeel

tv shows are slowly killing movies, lots of people around me say they kind of dont want to listen to movies anymore.. everyone wants tv shows.
- Sad but trueApeRobot
- hard to beat the good ole 2 hour format though. And this although good does feel like TV a lot of the time.fadein11
- 2 hours is super short and we dont have time to really get into charaters' mind and psychology.Bennn
- erm - the hundreds of classic films of the past may be evidence to the contrary. And let's face it this isn't about characterisation is it?fadein11
- watching 80 hours of Breaking Bad is a lot of time to get into the characters mind and psychology, no 2 hours films can beat that. Its mathematics.Bennn
- I'm not saying movies sucks. :) its just, different.Bennn
- yeah of course its different but you said TV is killing cinema... it really isnt - it just can make more money in the long run which is what its all about.fadein11
- cinema has been pronounced dead so many times and always comes back and its far from dead now anyway.fadein11
- and tell them they should watch and listen to movies - it can be so dull just listening lol. (sorry)fadein11
- yeah 'listen' is a bad french to english translation, my bad ;)Bennn
- i know - sorry.fadein11
- you better be sorry! ;PBennn
- Front page material.ApeRobot
- Yeah fuck movies!yuekit
- Most TV becomes formulaic and predictable, breaking bad was guilty of that like a mofo. A lot of deus ex machina used to move the plot forward. In a movie theyzarkonite
- would have tightened the plot to keep it focused and moving forward.zarkonite
- IE: Walt would go into killer mode, snap out of it become the uncertain persona and create a deadly problem and it would get solved with his smart persona.zarkonite

Binged 1-4... Good stuff... Klepto Ryder and Modine are making me feel old.
Aging is lame.
- Haha yeah middle-aged mom ryder made me feel real old too.microkorg

Just binge watched the season. It was good. I thought the weakest parts were the stupid monster.
Everything was great, the characters, the look of the show, the music, and then theres this dumb cgi alien. I would have preferred it to be something more... idk... unseen? Left up to the imagination? Instead of showing this stupid looking monster.
I also REALLY wish with season 2 that they took more of like a tales from the crypt route. Leave this season as a complete finished story. And season 2 is something totally new. All new characters/actors, all new story. I feel like ive seen enough of this story and these characters. But theyre taking the safe route and just going to continue this just because people liked it. Weak! Take some risks and do something new with each new season! That would be awesome, but nope, another season stringing this same story along. Great.
- Thats easier said than done, look at how that worked out for True Detective.sofakingback
- Also, don't be comin up in here with your slow ass, bumping this thread. Watch that shit like the rest of us, the whole thing the day it comes out. lolsofakingback
- I agree with you here. The monster didn't have to be seen and it shouldn't have had that modern monster noise and look either.monospaced
- Imagination is definitely powerful enough to not show it. Having it eating barb was pointless.monospaced
- When I heard season 2 is the same cast, my first thought was: Haven't these people been through enough?DRIFTMONKEY
- Everyone is obsessed with the kids and their natural chemistry.monospaced
- Interesting. Stranger Things could play off of kids imagination each season could be different.teh
- Did you actually watch it or are you lying again and copying what someone else said?face_melter
- Calderone20000
not a big fan of creepy stuff... is it scary?
- no, not in the least bit scary lol - its full of kids and kids could happily watch it. it's pretty much a horror spoof, not a real horror.fadein11
- it's a bit creepymonospaced
- The creature is creepy. Especially for kids.ETM
- It's basically like a PG rated movieyuekit
- If your kids watch shit like transformers movies or Men In Black then they'll be OK with this. Maybe just one or two little nightmares.microkorg
- If you think ET is scary then yes.BK
- monospaced0
- Lol noticed that right awaydesmo
- isn't it weird? I instantly knew what it was, like I just saw something that was mine and I haven't seen in a while. cool feeling.sofakingback
- Exactly. I paused it and yelled to my wife who is just younger than me and had to have it explained.monospaced
- what about peechee folders? lol i still have a few of those.sea_sea
- don't remember those ... are they also in the show? I love finding the little easter eggs of 80s nostalgia in this showmonospaced
- yea i saw a few in there at some point. kids would draw all kinds of stuff on the, very 70's/80's http://freerepublic.…sea_sea
- love this https://www.flickr.c…sea_sea
