The Tory leadership election is a sort of X Factor for choosing the antichrist - Frankie Boyle
"...The frontrunner, Theresa May, communicates something horrifying, not through her appearance, but rather her unique expression of unwavering, furious disgust. It is the expression some nameless, pitiless archon will wear 50 years from now as it signs a contract to rent out our city centres to pharmaceutical companies so they can crop-spray viruses and harvest antibodies from any survivors. It is the expression Lucifer wore when the other angels attempted an intervention. Surely May, of all people, could make a positive case for migration just by saying: “If you can’t see the potential of a free-moving workforce, simply imagine how great it would be if I fucked off somewhere else.” Bizarrely, it looks like she’ll be involved in a runoff against Andrea Leadsom, who was created by Nazi scientists as a response to Dame Vera Lynn."

London, Scotland and N Ireland all voted remain - weird how all these places have a capital city and their own army of bureaucrats
i guess the rest of England and Wales are just un educated racist oiks
if politicians who are supposed to represent their constituents do their own thing and "know better" than we do then they should step down.
its all just a sham.
remainers - should we just do away with our national government, adopt the euro be run by the anonymous collective... its going to end up that way with "ever closer union". they might aw well ban national anthems, royalty, pick esperanto as the official language of europe and make all taxes, wages, laws and education uniform across all what-once-were countries
- If you're concerned about your national identity, Europe is not the problem — quite the opposite — it's an enabler, if anything.detritus

In a sublime and bizarre turn of events, people are going to pay Belgian lorry drivers to smuggle them *into* Europe from the UK to avoid the commotion and palaver of border crossings, visas, and strip searches from bored and vindictive passport control officers.
Alan, Moira, and their two kids (Cornelius and Jasmine) stashed in a fake packing crate with only a single air hole, a flask of weak lemon drink, and a packet of Chewits to tide them over on the 20+ hour journey from Barnet to a leafy camping site in Normandy.
Meanwhile, on Jersey, Charlie Hungerford is going to pivot from being local wheeler-dealer and sex pest to a full-on people trafficker cornering the market in clandestine midnight boat trips to France and medical-grade opiates. Jim turns a blind eye because Charlie pays him in leather jackets, dogs, and parts for his Roadster.

Snapshot from Sunderland
Anger at the EU runs high in this long-time Labour-leaning city, as its traditional businesses such as fishing and shipping have been decimated by competition overseas. Residents say the U.K. should stop sending cash to the E.U. and spend it on domestic services such as schools and health care.
Andrew Parker, a 36-year-old local taxi driver, said he thinks he U.K. should pull out of the EU. The money the U.K. provides to the union would be better spent on the national health system, he said.
"They should be spending more on our own country than giving it to other countries," he said.
But others here worried that if the U.K. left, the ripple effects could harm the city's biggest employer, Nissan Motor, which employs about 7,000 people at a giant manufacturing plant. Rachel Meadows, proprietor of Katie's Garden, a craft and tea room in downtown Sunderland, said friends who work at the Nissan car factory were worried that a leave vote could harm their jobs.
