My classic wired apple keyboard didn't survive having a glass of Nepalese Golden Tips Black tea knocked over it:

So while awaiting for a used replacement on off eBay, I picked up this crap for £9.99 from a high street shop:
And... it's actually good. Cheap plastic, slightly wonky keys due to cheap manufacturing, collects dust instantly... but nice key travel distance and typing sound. Only thing stopping me from using it forever is the lack of media keys and reluctance to install a key mapper on a mac that I use for crypto trading.
- Invest in a cheap mechanical, even. Once you go mechanical you never go back.palimpsest
- how do you set up media keys, vol changing keys? Is there a trustable pref/remapper?shapesalad
- Most of them already have media keys, you don't have to go 60%. And you can always remap your keys.
Your hands will thank you, trust me.palimpsest - Here's a good beginner keyboard with media keys:

- After your first mechanical you would want to support mechanical specific brands though. Not that Logitech is bad. I just don't think that's a good entry point.palimpsest
- Or an entry point follow up.palimpsest
- Did you try switching to another brand of tea?CyBrainX

- Am I OOTL? I thought only gamers used wired keyboards these days?garbage
- Wired if for people that are tired of batteries running out at critical tims, and typing lag with bluetooth.shapesalad
- I avoid Bluetooth in any situation.CyBrainX
- Hmm. My K2 still keeps a charge for 3 days under heavy use. Never really had any latency issues with my mouse, but maybe because I have the One True Mouse.garbage
- My llogitech bluetooth has been working fine for years.formed

This one has a similar feel to a Mac, keyboard which I always liked. I had to switch to Windows a couple of years ago. This keyboard has lasted me a year and a half. I keep the rubbery cover on the keys so I don't get any dirt in the keys. That took a while to get used to but I thought it was worth it.
- If it's not mechanical I don't wanna hear about it.palimpsest
- Sorry. I didn't get the memo.CyBrainX
- Now you know. And knowing is half the battle.palimpsest
- that looks awful.shapesalad
- I got this, previous version when it was more minimal case, for £10 https://www.trust.co…shapesalad
- AA Battery still working 1 year later. Super easy to type on. Has drain hole for when you spill a drink over it.shapesalad

Cast iron, apparently
https://hitoto.design/- Does it come pre-seasoned? ;-)palimpsest
- Surely the keys can't be cast iron too? Wonder if that vn mouse is cast iron too?Ianbolton
- The keys too? I want to avoid touching plastic all day.shapesalad
