- What the guy is saying is interesting but he's talking about the second film of a trilogy. We don't know if the back sliding he describes is where the trilogy..Wolfboy
- ...will end. Maybe Johnson intended the story to be finished in the way it is set up in the first half of the film. Having said that, I doubt we're going to...Wolfboy
- ...anything that interesting from JJ Abrams.Wolfboy
- yeah. fully expecting Abrams to rehash Jedi for Ep. 9 but maybe he won't. We'll see...docpoz

I couldn't get passed the fact that bombs were 'dropped' in zero gravity in opening battle scene.
- yeah it was all a bit too far fetchedautoflavour
- drones?mugwart
- magnetic pull. what's the big deal?dopepope
- "Couldn't get past it" LOL.
I feel sorry for you. Stick to documentaries mate.Hayzilla - I just assumed momentum would be enough. If they were pushed when "dropped" it would work.ETM

"I'm honestly at a bit of a loss when it comes to describing just how dumb I think that story would have been. Like Robot Jox—Pacific Rim if I'm being charitable—but with Jedi and Sith instead of giant mechs? A recreation of the underwater chase on Naboo but with macrophages and neutrophils? I just can't even, as the kids say."

All 3 of the prequels are better than last jedi.
- EP's II and III yep, I am sorry to say but EPI is an abomination that should be erased from history along with The Last Jedi.fadein11
- nope. nope.monospaced
- ep3 was a total disgracehans_glib
- I like all the movies, bit of space, bit of adventure, some flying about. Happy times. What more could you want.robthelad

- ep3 v ep8 boils down to ... flying Leia v Darth 'Nooooooo' ... it's a close one but flying Leia wins by a SW fanboy tearBluejam

How Disney Built Star Wars, in real life
Disney's Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is a tour de force of technology and world building.

Thought it was a good finale some questions were left unanswered and a few plot holes but overall it was great. They could have stretched it out to a 6 part Netflix series or something though, parts felt quite rushed.
- Overall was great but super quick edits for some moments which made things feel rushed, coulda stretched some things out by a sec here and there to keep a paceprophetone

There were things I liked about the Rise of Skywalker but overall, it was just too corny. I know all the movies are guilty of that to some degree but it's worse in this movie. I liked that John Boyega was less slapstick and goofy, Rey and Kylo Ren were great again. I though there was too much fighting and impossible stunts in this one. Some of that reminded me of Star Trek Beyond where I just wanted them to stop fighting. Despite complaints, this was my 11th Star Wars premiere, going back to the first one and it's still fun to see them.

I have to yet see the movie and I’m sure it will be entertaining even if badly scripted and many plot holes. But I hear the “Mary Poppins” style flying is back as well as the weaponizing of light speed.
I know it’s a fucking movie but even if you have a tiny ball flying at speed of light into another matter it could potentially be as much energy as many nuclear bombs.
If they’re sitting in a space ship and going through stuff at light speed even a tiny dust grain would evaporize the ship and explode.
Also if they can weaponize it as they did in Last Jedi, then they could’ve just created drones and destroyed everything without effort. Why all the hassle then.
That said, it’s Rian Johnson’s fault for opening this can of worms. But also JJ’s fault for continuing it.
I still hate that stupid Mary Poppins scene in Last Jedi with Leia where she didn’t fucking freeze and boil in the vacuum of space.

Oh and one more thing. The Rise of Skywalker official poster is such a lazy Photoshop job. They used a fucking toy of Palpatine.
Remember when SW Posters were beautifully illustrated and designed?
Now it seems it’s done by some Fiverr guy.
- A good watch re the posters :

- I googled the Rise of Skywalker poster and got 8 different versions as the first 8 results.CyBrainX

The CGI in this one was really well done for the most part, didn't take me out of the film at all. One major blowed up good part was the only exception.
Speaking of, the Mandelorina is way ahead of everything else in this department. You watch each episode and it seems as if Sergio Leoni shot it, very light on the special effects until you see the end credits and realize that there are hundreds of artists working on each episode. But they do it on inanimate objects for the most part like vehicles and ships and of course, the biggest one is the backgrounds, you really believe you are on those worlds.
Thinking a little more about it, the one thing that rise of skywalker did better than the mandelorian is they used actual horses that they dressed up as opposed to the cgi creatures that Mando and nick nolte ride.

Thinning the creative soul of Star Wars makes sense from a business strategy standpoint. It alleviates pressure for derivative works to live up to unsustainable fan expectations. Disney can now produce quantity without the benchmark for quality, knowing they have a built-in paying customer base.
