    • And what are the US' long-term plans, Yuekit?Khurram
    • Hundreds of Russian soldiers and thousands of Ukrainians have been killed there according to that link you cited.yuekit
    • In a civil war. But do elucidate the US' long term plans in the region, as you see it. I would be interested to hear your take on the whole affair.Khurram
    • Ukraine is its own country, they can align with USA, NATO or whoever they want. I don't think it's likely to happen anytime soon, but the idea that a nation ofyuekit

    • ^ Quite funny to read a bunch of Marxists complain that a revolution against a corrupt government (notice they don’t use the word coup)yuekit
    • involved some unsavory elements and even violence against police!yuekit
    • Of course revolutions are messy, but none of this changes the fact that it’s Ukraine’s internal affairs we’re talking about here, not Russia’s.yuekit
    • There's the Ad Homs again. Looks like you barely skimmed the article.Khurram
    • And such words are synonymous: https://www.thesauru…Khurram
    • So wait coup, revolution, mutiny and insurgency...these are all the same? Kind of a shit thesaurus honestly :)yuekit
    • Notice that you didn't even read the fucking thing before you came out with your shit.Khurram
    • A coup, a revolution, an uprising, a US-backed armed rebellion, in the context of Ukraine in 2014, it's all the same.Khurram
    • Here, try Google's thesaurus if that one's not to your liking: https://www.google.c…Khurram

    • Democratic mass uprising? The Iranian Revolution? The Russian Revolution? The French Revolution? These are democratic? Don't be StuepitKhurram
    • That article I posted is actually a good overview of what is actually happening in Ukraine. Maybe you should actually take the time to read itKhurram
    • and learn from the thoroughly researched journalism it presents. Instead of just dismissing it:Khurram
    • "All revolutions are are spearheaded by far-right Neo-Nazi groups! This is nothing new!"Khurram
    • Yes, it is balanced, it is critical of the West and the East. Maybe you would have noticed that before dismissing it as a "bunch of Marxists"Khurram
    • Bunch of Marxists? It's one guy's article carefully presenting the facts sourced from right wing and left wing sources. Balanced account of the complex situatioKhurram
    • "It's not Russias affair"? It's not the United States affair either, now is it?Khurram
    • I know now you're pretty dumb, actually, I gave you more credit than you deserve.Khurram

    • And take your head out of your ass.Khurram
    • Guess what, no invasion! Guess what else? There's not going to be one! Neither will Ukraine now ever be admitted into the EU let alone NATO. Thanks Biden!Khurram

This invasion doesn't make sense. I don't get the why.
It damages Russia. It contradicts the politics that made Russia and China important on the planet in the last 20+ years. It contradicts their stand on respecting the legality of international law.

It goes against their politics of capital flow and trade and capitalism. It's absurd.

This will probably lead to a gov change in Russia...change of a leader that has to go anyway because of age.

    • putin has gone potty in isolation...
terrified of nato expansion, wants to put a buffer between him and the pesky west.

The news I'm seeing on Twitter is so positive for Ukraine and negative for Russia that I started to wonder if we are falling prey to confirmation bias of some sort.

Like it seems almost like a bunch of drunken Russian teenage soldiers randomly driving around Ukraine in tanks until they run out of fuel?

Not sure how to interpret all of this yet, I thought Putin was supposed to be a brilliant strategist.

    • Time will tell, I guess.Brabo_Brabo
    • The Western media is waging a psychological war designed to encourage Ukrainians and demoralize the Russians. The reality on the battlefield is different.pablo28
    • There is a lot of propaganda on both sides.pablo28
    • so far any confirmed death on Ukrainian side is 13 on snake island. so ya i'm very aware its very one sided on social media.pango
    • Even though I’m all for the Ukraine I can really see the bias towards them.Chimp
    • HAHAHAHA, holy fuck you guys are so brainwashed you don't know which way is upMilan
    • I'm not so paranoid to think that the reality on the battlefield is totally unknown. You can see the movement of troops, which cities they have taken etcyuekit
    • Clearly Russia has not taken control of major cities or captured Ukraine's leadership. But then again no one understands what their actual goals are.yuekit
    • The reality is there‘s both, the absurd and not so absurd stories. I know the Russians are overwhelming force but I still like to read the Ukrainian successes.NBQ00
    • That doesn‘t mean that I ignore reality and that there‘s propaganda on both sides as always in a war.NBQ00
    • milan doesn´t even have a brain that could be washed.. hiiahahaaneverscared
    • i´am pretty sure though. vlad planned he could push fru fast...and get all done by now.neverscared

    • Doesn't matter how 'brilliant' putin is, if you are some 19 year old kid, thinking army would be fun and beers, then told to go kill in the country next door..shapesalad
    • ..for not decent reason other than if you don't you get shot... once there your motivation is going be zero...shapesalad
    • yeah Ukr side is also spreading fake stuff at a very high level. Zelenskyy tweet of Turkey closing Bosphorus to Russian ships was an example.Beeswax
    • I started writing, then didn't post, as much y'day, yuekit - except I felt mainstream media was more pessimistic whilst online is positively jubilant. So odd.Nairn

    • Were you guys as enthusiastic about the Iraqi insurgents who so bravely fought the illegal American invasion and occupation?Khurram

i think a LOT of this is because all of us grew up with WW2 as a big part of our lives. our grandparents all fought (or atleast a lot of them did)
      exador1
    • hell.... mine fought against each other lol...(being half german)
so i think seeing something that looks an awulf lot like WW2 is kinda freaking people out.
      exador1
    • Exador! Glad I finally caught you here. Thank you brother-in-law Justin from be for his excellent podcast. I listen avidly!Khurram
    • but your point is 100% valid.
western/white media doesn't tend to look at these things all with the same level of intensity.
      exador1
    • Both my grandparents also fight in WW2 for the British Empire. One was involved in the liberation of Italy.Khurram
    • The Iraq War happened two decades ago, there was no social media where you could follow individual people on the ground.yuekit
    • But one parallel is that it was just as obvious (or should have been) that the pretext for war was bullshit in both cases. And yet some people fell for it.yuekit
    • Khurram you need to take the blinders off a bit. There were thousands and thousands of massive anti-war protests in the US in response to Dick Cheney's wars.garbage
    • 50 thousand hit the streets in Seattle, so maybe stop assuming all Americans are jingoistic xenophobes.garbage
    • Don't remember seeing people on here cheering the Shia uprising in Basra or sharing Muqtada al-Sadr memes ¯\_(ツ)_/¯Khurram

    • Too funny, sorry, you entirely missed my point.Khurram

    • maybe it has something to do with russian army took away all their soldier's phone. that's why whatever being shared live on the ground is mostly from Ukrainianpango
    • i dont get if russian army was there to "denazification" wouldnt they show some photos of them killing or capturing nazis?pango
    • Right, that's what it is.Khurram
    • And don't call me mate. I ain't your mate.Khurram

Since some of you apparently only trust Russian state media, how do you explain this? Russian security services said Islamic State were planning terrorist attacks in Moscow just a couple weeks ago.

what we need is an elite team of super covert commandos, taken from the US, UK, Canada, Israel, Germany etc to take out Putin. Even if it's a suicide mission. take out Putin, the war ends and WW3 is averted.

Kill one madman save the lives of millions.

    • I agree.fadein11
