I'm thinking of selling my Mamiya 645 1000s with 80mm 1.9 and putting them money towards a Hasselblad 500CM 80mm 2.8. I find the Mamiya cumbersome. The thing is I'm never feeling the square format and I know myself as a photographer in that I know that I produce better images if I see the approximate framing when I shoot (rather than envisioning the crop.) Instead of shooting square, I'm thinking I'll get some A16 backs and hopefully I can find some A16V backs, too.
Anyone shoot Hasselblad? Is this a waste of money?
- I just went through this exact thing... ended up getting a Mamiya 6. Hasselblad isn't any less cumbersome than the Mamiya 645.inteliboy
- will report back in a few months. Though am sure I'll miss the 645 format.inteliboy
- Good advice. There are 645 rangefinders if you ever want to go back. Mamiya 7 is also incredible.nb
- The 500CM is a really fun clattermachine. Eventually I realized there was no real point for me to have medium format film in the 2010s.garbage
- It was my dream camera growing up, and then when I had one it was a a nice experience, but I had no use for it anymore.garbage
- Shit, I love medium format film. It's definitely what I shoot the most ofnb

I've never used profiles / presets / LUTs when editing my photos, but I have to quickly edit a series I shot for a magazine (portrait commission).
I shot that series to help them out, they had a specific idea and look in mind and though it's not really in my style, it was fine by me.
Now that it's shot I just don't want to spend too much time editing it and feel that for once, profiles will be useful, especially considering they want a film-like look.
I use Capture One, and after some research my best options seem to be :
RNI All Films 4 (though I'd prefer 5 but it's not supported by C1)
https://reallyniceimages.com/ind…or Lutify.me (I could also end up using it for video).
https://lutify.me/products/3d-lu…Looking for any of you fine people's feedback on these or recommandations for better alternatives.
Thanks!
- Obviously I could have just shot film but very last minute + lockdown + weekend = I simply used the gear I had with me.spl33nidoru
- Went with RNI, very convenient and happy so far. Loading a style on a separate adjustment layer leaves a lot of room for customisation.spl33nidoru

- I love the GR series, but I prefer the black *shrugs*greyandred
- Cool design feature to get people to look at the lens, if that's what you want. I don'tnb
- Shitty design, I convinced ppl that a Fuji X100s was a film camera and couldn't show them the pics after I took themgrafician
- ^so I got tons of great street photography shots, ppl looking natural, not posing for the picturegrafician
- Any flashy looking camera will get you only lots of lost photo opportunitiesgrafician
- Wait, is that not removable? Kind of lame. I use a GR film camera, and I suppose I have more of an issue of the whole "street photography" culture.garbage
- It's me being a crotchety old fuck, but whenever I meet somebody that describes themselves as a "street photographer", I think "you must be new here".garbage
- The orange ring is removable, it comes with a black version too. :-)PhanLo

- Grainy, but the dynamic range is excellent. The ability to pick up tones in that phone booth and the brick wall is remarkably goodnb

- I just realized he’s not on a phoneGnash
- No he just a grown ass adult using his middle finger to make fun of the asian guy. He was MAGA before there was MAGA.utopian
- This is staged, though. You know, artGnash
- Yes, very staged.nb
- Also, this is from the 80s, I think. So about 35 years of breakthroughs in photographic tech, yet the image quality here is as good as a high-end digital cam.nb
- What isn't staged?utopian
- Well sure you can make that ol' argument but in this case he specifically cast the subjects and told them what to do. It's more staged than most photographs.nb
- This was shot in 2009, NB. more accurately, It’s a re-enacted, photo. This is how Wall works.Gnash
- Fun fact: this image doesn't definitely depict racism. It's possible the single guy was starting rudely at the woman, or maybe they even know each other.nb
- There are lots of possibilities but the viewer applies the story to the image. So if you see pre-MAGA, maybe that's you looking for race, etc. Art!nb
- Exactly, NB. While wall recreates him own memories, he’s fully aware that memories are an illusion as wellGnash
- Love Wallmort_
- Whoa wait, he shot this in 2009? Not possible. Or is it? Now I don't know what to believe.nb
- I remember seeing this before 2009, but definitely possible that my memory isn't accurate. Might be as fake as this photo!!nb

This series "Contacts Vol 1, 2, 3" is one of the best documentaries about art photography ever. So much insight in each little clip by showing contact sheets and just letting the artist talk. Tricky to find all the parts for free in English, though.

- how's the video on these? I remember my biggest gripe with the x100 was lack of anti-shake_niko
- still no stabilizer. has 4k now and fast smooth continuous autofocus. I'm loving it so far...can't wait to go out and shoot something other than my dog.ok_not_ok
- oh yeah and the auto focus, great that they sorted that!_niko
